A new car! *cheer*

I spent Saturday buying a car! I was hoping I still had my blog post here about buying the bug back in 2003, but apparently it was on my regular blogger site, which I don't think I ported over to this (I still have them all... somewhere). The MX3 had died and I bought a brand new Beetle -- apparently the WEEK before Dragoncon according to the dates on my title ...

Papa

My grandpa, Papa ("Pawpaw") passed away early Sunday morning. Been keeping myself busy and the family has been together pretty much nonstop, so that's been good. Back at work today, which is harder than I expected.

Curating

I like putting things in order. I like organizing my DVDs but theme and then by colour. This isn't like some people, "teehee I like things in order I'm so OCD" -- I do have some obsessive-compulsive tendencies, which I won't go into! I don't consider organizing like this part of that - I call it "curating." And that's what you see here at my website. It's constant curating. I ...

Car, etc

I forgot to post about my lovely incident last week. So Tuesday I'm on my way home, Kevin is with me, we're going down the interstate 70mph. When I hear a LOUD "blumph blumph blumph" - my front passenger side tire blew out. Luckily I was RIGHT at an exit and was able to throw my hazard lights on, roll off the interstate and limp into a gas station. Kevin ...

Dreams

Over the weekend, I had a weird mash-up dream where we were at Disney World and then at Dragon Con but neither place was the ACTUAL place. (Most of my Dragon Con dreams take place in places that are not the Dragon Con hotels. But in my head it's Dragon Con. It's often strange hotels/convention centers/mall mash-ups I've never been to.) It started out with going through some ...

Heeeey

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. Last week was crazy. My grandfather had surgery to remove the cancer in his neck on Tuesday. He's been fighting this stuff for a year. The surgery went longer than planned because they found more than anticipated - it ended up being a 7 hour surgery. I went up and sat with him and my grandmother Wednesday, and that afternoon we got bad ...

Luna & stuff

Luna is almost all grown up. And while she's calmed down pretty significantly, it still feels like we just have this random wild animal living in our house sometimes. Haha. For Valentine's Day, we bought her a big present - a big kitty jungle gym. We've been wanting to get her one, because she loves being high up. We had a leftover Visa gift card from Christmas we'd saved for ...

Random Annoyances

When I see someone post a costume photo and it's labeled/titled/described as nothing more than "cosplay girl." (bonus if there's absolutely no costumer/photographer credit, either.) It's not just one person or website doing this. I've seen it for years, multiple places. In some cases it may be a case of not knowing who the character is. But generally, no. Instead of posting a photo and putting in ...

FAQ Friday: The Worst Costume Advice I Can Think Of

I'm tired of trying to give good advice, so here's the worst costuming advice I can think of. 1. Don't waste time doing research The best costumers just jump right in and make awesome stuff happen, like magic. 2. Don't have a sewing machine and a needle and thread takes too long? Try Elmer's Glue Don't waste time trying to hem or fray-check, either. The fraying edges give it a weathered, realistic ...
