Heeeey

Sorry I haven’t posted in a few days. Last week was crazy.
My grandfather had surgery to remove the cancer in his neck on Tuesday. He’s been fighting this stuff for a year. The surgery went longer than planned because they found more than anticipated – it ended up being a 7 hour surgery. I went up and sat with him and my grandmother Wednesday, and that afternoon we got bad weather. (Sleet + snow… probably the best snow we’d had in a while!) My grandfather kicked me out of his ICU room before the weather got bad so I wouldn’t be on the roads.

Well I got outside to leave and it’s pouring down rain – the rain was FREEZING but hadn’t started to ice yet. I ran over to the covered walkway to get to the parking lot – and they had it blocked off (I’m going to guess because it ices over in weather like this). So I had to run a block and a half in the freezing rain with no raincoat to get to my car. Then I had to get gas and the rain was blowing in sideways… ugh. I was soaked and shivering by the time I got home. I was going to go back into work, but by the time I changed, ate a little something and was ready, the rain was turning to sleet and everybody was leaving work. So I stayed home.

Thursday we woke up to a winter wonderland.

It snowed.

Everything was closed and we had a lazy snow day at home.

Friday we got a late start to work because of ice & snow still on the roads. Late that evening, my grandmother was fixing up the cot in my grandfather’s hospital room, slipped and fell, breaking her arm. Like I told her there are worse places she could have broken her arm – an emergency team was called and they took her straight down to x-ray.

Saturday my grandpa was getting released from the hospital (already! amazing.). My aunt and uncle took my grandmother over to a clinic to get her arm checked up and see if she needed surgery. I went and sat with Pawpaw again. He was really anxious to get up and out of there. They finally came and released right as my dad and Chase both got there. We got his prescriptions picked up and got some lunch for him and took him on home. It was a long day but I’m glad he’s home where he’s comfortable.

Sunday was a lazy day. Didn’t go anywhere or do much of anything.

Today I woke up with a migraine thanks to the changing weather. It’s rainy and warmer this week so of course the pressure changes and my brain explodes. Nothing is really helping with it either. Ugh.

This week I’m hoping to get my office cleaned up again and fix up some stuff for MidSouthCon. Don’t know if I’m going to be in town this weekend or not, so I want to go ahead and get it done. I also need to start working on Donna again.
