Glinda, and Frozen

Part One: Glinda

I finished up the Glinda bodice Saturday!

Friday night I had a near panic attack over the ribbons, because as I got to the end I realized I was running shorter than I expected. As I got to the last segment I was two strips short.

But, I had 6 stripes on the left side of the back, and only 4 on the unfinished right side – so I just took one off the left side, moved it over to the right, and called it day. Once it was hemmed and i finished and everything, the 5th stripe would have been pointless, so that was super lucky.

Saturday I got the eyelets in and it was done. It still needs straps, but mom is going to do the straps when she takes it for a final fitting.

(I should’ve taken the pink tanktop off, duh)

And here’s mom’s skirt progress:

She said she’d take a photo of it all together on the dressform and send it to me!
Speaking of my dressform, I was totally stuck yesterday in terms of sewing. I was going to start on Dolores – oh I haven’t talked about that, have I? – and/or do some draping for Bespin Leia, but then remember mom had my dressform. How did I ever function before having a dressform??

So yeeeeeh I’m making a Dolores from Westworld costume. Nothing super serious. I just found a “close enough” fabric at Joann that I know isn’t accurate, but it’ll do for a fun costume.

I’m hoping to have it done and debut it at VisionCon. Found a decent starting point pattern for the top and another for the skirt.

Oh and I also picked up a yard of this at Joann because I could NOT SAY NO

I don’t know what I’ll do with it. Maybe a new purse? LOL

Part Two: Frozen
Not the Disney movie, but me, as in I am frozen like a block of ice!

Friday evening we had a 501st troop – the Season of Wishes Make-a-Wish Christmas Party. I got off work early, and went home to get into costume, and as I was putting on my Leia dress I thought, hey, what if this is outside? They never said. So just in case I put my longjohns on underneath it. Because it was flipping cold here on Friday.

And I’m so glad I did, because, yes, it was outside!

I was mostly OK though. I wish I’d put extra socks on, and my hands were cold, but otherwise I was chilly but ok. Thank goodness for the hand warmers our handlers had!! Seriously it was a god send LOL

We got to meet Santa though!

Then Chase and I had pizza afterwards and I took some weird snapchats.
