everybody scream

Well it’s been 2 weeks since Dragon Con and I still don’t have all of the photos up.. BUT I do have the costume construction pages up for everything new: Padme Picnic Gown, Morticia, Space Mutiny, and Rogue.

Glad I just had Chase take this picture in this photo-op instead of inputting my email address to get it emailed — people are reporting they never got theirs!

So Chase did some processing on my Morticia pictures to make the texture of the dress pop – but I wasn’t really sure about that, so he gave them to me unedited and I’m not sure which I like better.

To me, this is how the dress looks to the eye.

And here’s one where you can see the texture – but I don’t think this is what it actually looks like. It’s neat to see it though.

I do wish we’d found a better place to shoot these, I don’t love the orange tone of those doors behind me. But I can’t think of anywhere else that would’ve worked.

I need to send @backroomfinds a gallery of all the pics we took together. So glad we were able to have a little mini photoshoot!

Its funny, last night mom told me they went out to eat a few days ago and saw a table of Mrs Ropers! She went over and showed them pics from Dragon Con of all of the Mrs Ropers LOL

In other news…

We have a new cat hanging around the porch. I’ve been calling it Scruffy because poor thing looks ROUGH. Pretty sure it’s a stray, but it’s cool with Benny and Jet and is often laying in the front walkway while Benny and Jet are on the porch. The other day I caught him laying on the porch by himself and got this photo – he ran away when he saw me. He’s been under my car a lot. I tried to take some treats out to it and it ran away – I hope it found the treats later before Benny did. Set a bowl of water out. Haven’t gotten any camera notifications but hopefully he found it. It’s too hot for him to be without water.

Yeah the highs this past weekend were 101. And on my birthday weekend? C’mon. Old person rant but this time of the year used to be when the fair was held every year (and my brain still always goes, “it’s time for the fair!”) and you could wear a flannel and jeans to the fair and be comfortable during the day and it’d be a little nippy at night.

I’m on book 3 of Dungeon Crawler Carl. Also bought a pack of stickers at the book store primarily for this Donut sticker to add in with my other cat stickers on my laptop.

My birthday gift to myself… the spoon rest from the Le Creuset Star Trek collection.

Saturday morning we were up bright and early because it was the neighborhood yard sale. Were we up to participate? No, we were up because our neighbors started setting up at 5am and the dogs started barking and there was no going back to sleep. Around 8 we got out of the house, went and got breakfast, then went around to some of the sales. Chase got some shoes. We got some tamales to bring home to eat for lunch.

This was the only thing I was tempted by – the sign on it said “I belonged to a hippie shop in the 90s. My edges are black light and I’ve seen some things. Name your price.” But the thing was huge, almost as tall as me, and there’s nowhere for it to go.

After a nap, we went and met mom and a boutique where she bought me a new shirt and new jeans for my birthday, then Chase and I went to check out a vintage toy store. Came home and changed and met my parents for dinner at Ecco. Since they were going out of town, I ended up with lots of leftovers to eat this week.

I spotted this in a tiktok video of the new Lucas museum and said I really hoped they’d still have it when we go next year.

He found somebody selling one and got it for me!! Amidala sweatshirt! I looooove that it’s just the embroidery, there’s no Star Wars logo or anything, it’s so subtle. Really hoping it’s cool enough at disney this year I can wear this and put together a little bound with it and my Amidala ears.

And my parents got me this clock! Look how cute! The colour is great on the kitchen wall.

Saturday was super busy so we wanted to take it easy Sunday – my actual bday. I did request to go to homegoods and look at halloween stuff which was convenient because it’s right next to the grocery where we needed to go anyway. I got a bat picture frame I’m going to put a pic of me and Chase as Nadja and Laszlo in.

I spent some time in my sewing room playing dress-up with the dressforms. Not unpacking dragon con or cleaning up the house like I should’ve been, but it was my birthday and I wanted to play dress-up with the dressforms LOL. I got my turntable out and took some video of picnic padme on it, then decided I wanted to do that with all of my Padme costumes, only to realize that some of my dressforms won’t fit on the turntable. So Chase and I headed to Lowe’s and found a round wooden disc that was perfect for my tripod-style dressform legs to stand on. (And got to look at Halloween AND Christmas stuff too)

Came home and finished my videos, although funeral Padme ended up being a pain to film — the robe is just too long and instead of nicely twirling around the base like lake dress, it would just get stuck and prevent the dressform from turning while the turntable kept moving. I have a video of me attempting to move the cape around and then moving out of the shot and then moving the cape again and then moving out of the shot over and over, and I’d post it because it’s funny, but I’m wearing the shortest shorts I own (because it’s 100 degrees here) so I’m not posting that LOL. There’s another one of my filming as parade fell OFF the turntable (how, I don’t know) and took out tatooine as it went over. Thankfully both are ok, but you don’t see it in the video, you can see it starting to go and then you just see the floor as I ran to try to catch it.

We just cooked a homechef last night, I played the sims, watched some theme park videos and went to bed early. A nice birthday.

I’ve got an appointment this week. It’s just a check in. But anxious about it anyway.

Going to try to focus on photoshoots. I want to go ahead and get the backdrop up and get the new stuff shot right away — we’re pretty busy next month, and then I have surgery at the beginning of November, so there will be no photos in November. Only focusing on the 5 new things – the 4 from Dragon Con and my new Leia bound, so we should be able to get those done over the next 2 weekends.
