The New York Post

Get it? The New York Post? Haha

Sorry I didn’t post last week; didn’t have much to say and we were busy getting ready to leave — but I will make a separate post of updates after this one, just to have the vacation content separate from everything else.

So let’s start with Wednesday! We went out to my parents’ house, picked them up and headed to the airport. We were all in first class, which was fun. We were in the front row!

So much space for activities!

Our luggage was right there waiting for us as was our driver.

He had a whole light show and christmas music playing the whole ride in to the hotel.

Unfortunately mom wasn’t feeling so hot so once we got checked in, she went to bed while dad, Chase and I went to our reservations at Carnegie.

We had a corner room this time which was nice, though one window just looked out on a brick wall and the other looked directly into an office building LOL

Friday we let my parents sleep in and Chase and I went to do some shopping. Mostly Chase wanted to go to the Nike store.

After my parents were up and ready we went to Rockefeller.

We went into the Kate Spade store right there and I SWEAR this dress is made of the same fabric as my Crait Leia underdress.

All of the decorations were so pretty!

Dinner that night was at Mitr Thai.

Then it was off to see Sweeney Todd!

My mom looooooves Josh Groban so this was a must-do for her.

It was really good and we had great seats.

We went to the stage door afterwards to try to get Josh Groban’s autograph for mom but unfortunately he didn’t come out that night. We did get a couple of folks, including Annaleigh Ashford who was sooo funny and we thought totally stole the show.

Mom and Dad in Times Square!

The next morning was our Met day, and my parents got to have their first subway ride LOL

They were both still a little worn out so it was a slow roll through the Met.

Did get to see the Women Designing Women exhibit though.

After that we got a taxi to back towards Columbus Circle. We had lunch right there and then took a pedicab tour through the park.

Dinner that night was Piccola Cucina and we had told them ahead of time it was my parents’ 50th anniverary and boy did they make a big deal out of it!

They played “That’s Amore” brought out a cannolis, and had my parents and more people get up and dance. It was so cute!

Walked back to the hotel and enjoyed more decorations and windows.

Had to stop at a duane reade for mom to get her some bottles of Gold Peak sweet tea. They don’t have sweet tea anywhere in NYC so she was going nuts LOL

We ended up juggling around our plans – originally we were going to do the Bryant Park winter fest Monday but since it was going to rain Monday, we did it Saturday instead. So it was majorly crowded and we didn’t get to do or see much. I did get the raclette in the bread though. It was yummy.

We went over to the library and my parents were intrigued with this old phone booth LOL

(ok i was intrigued with it too)

That night was dinner at Peter Luger’s!

We did pretty good on this steak LOL We did take the leftovers intending to eat them for breakfast the next day but forgot (more on that later)

Next day we were baack to Carnegie again because mom had missed out on it the first night.

Visited the Apple store

Then to our matinee of The Play That Goes Wrong!

It was SO funny, I’m glad i’ve seen both it and Peter Pan Goes Wrong now.

Korean BBQ for dinner! They were able to let us in earlier than our reservation because we got there way earlier than we planned LOL

Monday it was supposed to rain alll day so we tried to stay close to the hotel. We decided to go to MOMA.

And then a pizza place right behind our hotel for lunch.

After that the rain had cleared out so we ventured out. I’d had no plans to go fabric shopping this trip, but Chase wanted to go to B&H, so while he and dad did that, mom and I went to Mood.

We ended up walking back to the hotel from there, looking for somewhere to eat since we didn’t have plans for that night.

We ended up at a pub near our hotel.

Went back to the hotel and finished packing because we had a car reserved to arrive at 5AM to take us to the airport for our 8:15 fight.

In the middle of the night got a text that our flight had been delayed 2 hours. So Chase canceled the car pickup and rescheduled it for 2 hours later. Then an hour later, another text alert that our flight had been delayed another 2 hours. So Chase canceled and rescheduled again. And then another delay text. Chase tried to reschedule the car and got declined because now our bank thought it was fraud, rightfully so LOL So Chase had to call them and get it straightened out. It got delayed again but at that point we were just going to get to the airport when we got to the airport.

Got checked in, got to our gate and just camped out. Our flight was originally at 8:15, it finally boarded around 3:30.

Just glad we got home that day and it didn’t get canceled.

Home!

Got our luggage, got lost in the parking garage, but finally dropped my parents off and got home. Whew! My stomach started hurting in the car on the way home, just figured i needed to eat. But still hurting after we had dinner. I ended up being really sick, but more on that in the next (non NYC post).
