spooky spectacular

Hey hi boy have the last few days been busy!

Earlier last week I did finish up Stevie:

But more on that later.

Wednesday had dinner with the girls!

Thursday a mysterious box showed up. Well, mysterious to Luna, not to me.

Tiktok Shop finally got me, I said I’d never buy anything from there but… I did.

This cat scratcher furniture thing. She has never liked actual cat scratcher posts or pads. We think it’s because she is a pretty big cat and anything that’s vertical she could pull over on herself (even on her cat tree, she’s never cared anything about the scratch post on that!) and anything that’s horizontal is never heavy enough for her to be able to properly pop her claws. We saw this on tiktok shop and thought it might work for her.

She came over to check it out immediately and…

SUCCESS!

She loves it. She just hangs out on it. I separated it later, the bigger one is over by the window so she can sit on it and look out the window, and the smaller insert is in the middle of the living room.

Thursday after work I ran to get Kevin and came home and got us both ready for the spooky science spectacular.

Now THAT’S a kyber crystal!

I gave him the option of wearing a Luke or the jedi costume. When i talked to him monday, he hadn’t shaved and had a good sized beard, so when he (surprisingly) picked the jedi, I said that was good, he wouldn’t have to shave, we’d be Obi-Wan and Padme. And then when I picked him up Thursday, he’d shaved LOL

So it kinda looked more like Luke in jedi robes than Obi-wan, but I’d already pulled out Padme to wear with him, so whatev.

Had fun at the event, took pics with folks, Kevin got some candy.

Took some pics over in the old mansion part of the museum:

I really need to do some updates to the jedi costume before he wears it again. It’s dad’s Qui-Gon costume and it’s never sat on Kevin right, the tabards are constantly pulling out of position and the obi is always slipping down.

Kevin was coming down the stairs and looked all jedi-ish…

So I said “Kevin, look more majestic!”

And this is what I got LOL

I took Friday off work. Discovered Kevin hadn’t seen Obi-Wan kenobi so I put that on for him while I downloaded pics from the night before and sat trying to remove all of the modern fixtures, alarms, exit signs, etc from the Padme pics above in photoshop LOL It wasn’t always successful but I got rid of the worst of it. Then I cleaned up the upstairs, got my sewing room cleaned up, and nearly vacuumed up half a spool of serger thread. I had to put my magnifiers on, get my little scissors out and sit there carefully cutting out a ton of purple thread wound around the inside of the vacuum LOL

Had dinner with my parents that night, and Saturday did some yard work. Took Kevin home and then I had to get ready to go see Stevie!

I’ll talk more about construction and thoughts over on the costume entry page when I write that up in a few minutes.

Overall I was really happy with it. It was comfy.

Ash made us matching bracelets!

We went to dinner then headed on downtown for the show. We ended up having a tiny private row for 2!

None of my pics are very good but here’s our view – we were in the second row in the balcony. Had a great, unobstructed view.

And it was a great show! I can now say I’ve seen Stevie Nicks!

Then we got a second show in the parking garage. Everybody knows what leaving a parking garage after something like a concert is like. You end up sitting there for 20 minutes waiting your turn to move 5 feet then you sit there for 10 minutes waiting your turn to move another 5 feet. So we’d made it down one level and were sitting at the “turn.” Ash had waved someone in a parking spot ahead of us to move between us and the car in front of us as we moved forward.

We’d been sitting stuck in this position for about 20 minutes when all of sudden an SUV came busting up beside us — no clue where they came from! We’d heard honking before so I dunno if they’d somehow pushed their way down the ramp from the floor above, but they cut across the corner of the parking spots and was now trying to force their way ahead of us and the car Ash was letting in. Here’s a rough drawing to give you an idea of the situation:

And they were acting SUPER aggressive, doing that thing where you pump your brake so you car keeps doing tiny jerks forward, and she kept doing this to the point it looked like she may have hit the bumper of the car ahead of us.

So the driver of the car Ash was letting in got out, looked at the bumper of the car in front of him and walked over to the SUV’s blacked out window and was like “What are you doing?!” Then he went to the driver of the car in front of him and that guy got out, inspected his bumper and also confronted crazy SUV driver.

The first guy had his wife get in his driver seat and got in front of the SUV and started yelling at her to back up, that he wasn’t moving until she backed up. After several minutes of this stand off, she backed up. Everybody went back to their cars and we thought it was over.

NOPE! She then slammed on her gas and went flying up over the parking spots to try to cut in in front of the guy whose bumper she’d almost hit. Everybody was back out of their cars and yelling at her again. She did roll down her window once which is how we knew it was a woman — and she was clearly drunk or something driving the way she was.

Well happy ending, she got stuck there because everyone held the line and no one let her in. She tried force her way in again in front of us once we got up to that point, but Ash wasn’t budging and we both just looked at her tinted windows and I shook my head and said “NO” and Ash flipped her off. She finally got let in a couple cars behind us.

Like WTF have you never driven before? Have you never been in a parking garage before? What a dumbass. I recorded most of it in case she did hit somebody because it really seemed like she was going to, in her drunken (or whatever) state she was in. So that was totally wild.

Got home, had a snack, and went to bed. Laid there in bed wondering why my eyes felt weird and that’s when I realized I hadn’t washed my full face of makeup off or even taken off my lashes LOL

So anyway – this week is obviously Halloween proper but in my head it feels like it’s over LOL I’m ready to get Christmas out! It turned cold here overnight and it’s gonna be COLD for trick or treating tomorrow, so I fear the handful of trick or treaters we usually get may be even less. I need people to come get this candy.

After Halloween I gotta swing into doing some fixes on Beauty and the Beast costumes including altering the Belle ballgown I made a few years ago. Then onto either Honeymoon Leia or the Star Wars dress. Probably the Star Wars dress because I realized i need lining for Leia.
