let’s circle back after the holidays

Halloween now feels like a month ago. But it was just a week ago!

Since it was cold out I wore Leia so I could layer under it, and it’s comfortable to sit in while waiting on trick or treaters.

I ended up being home alone most of the night. Chase had to go over and help my aunt and uncle with something so I figured I was in for a night of just sitting around awkwardly in Leia, waiting on the 1 or 2 trick or treaters we usually get to show up.

Well we actually got a decent amount of trick or treaters! It wasn’t like a FLOOD of them or anything, but more than usual. So that was nice. I actually gave out almost all of our candy.

I started putting Halloween away as soon as I got out of Leia around 8:30 LOL I’m ready for Christmas now.

Look what’s back in my sewing room:

It’s the Belle ballgown I made for a production of Beauty and the Beast Jr back in 2016! It needs some repairs, some clean-up, and letting out.
So far I’ve repaired the broken strap, some torn lining, cleaned up and let out the hem, and removed the zipper. We’re switching to a lace-up back, and while I usually wouldn’t want to do that for a costume that they’re going to need to change into quickly backstage, this will let them have some wiggle room for other people needing to wear it in the future.

I was going to get started on the Star Wars dress, but Luna said no. Actually, I realized I needed some interfacing and a zipper and all the things I tend to forget when I go shopping. Plus I didn’t feel like taking measurements to figure out my size in this pattern, so I didn’t do anything other than read the pattern booklet.

I did go to Joann Saturday morning for those missing things, plus lining for Honeymoon Leia which I JUST NOW realized I forgot to get. Ugh. I even made a list and I forgot it.

I got my new glasses! They are taking some getting used to. I can only wear them when I’m stationary right now. Can’t walk around the house (or especially up or down the stairs) or be in the car with them on, it makes me dizzy. But I love all my magnetic frames! I want more! I need them to do star wars ones.

Saturday we ended up being out almost all day. We decided it was time to get new phones, so that took the whole morning basically. Then a few errands and then finally home.

That night I made something unexpected.

New shoes to go with this Leia costume.

This is for the Rebel Legion so gonna send these pics off and see what happens. I hadn’t seen one particular panel where you can see her shoes in this pretty clearly. I mean it’s small but it shows they’re boots with gold decorations on them. Got a $10 pair of used moccasin boots at the secondhand store saturday, cut the top with all the fringe off and made covers out of leftover Lothal Leia material and the gold trim I had leftover from the bodice. They turned out pretty cute. Gonna have to get some of those sticky gripper pads to put on the bottom of them.

Sunday ended up being busy too, I worked on Belle most of the morning and then we went to try to return our old phones to our carrier. We tried the store in the mall first but turns out they are 3rd party and can’t take the trade-in returns. So then we checked out a few stores at the mall since we hadn’t been there in a while, and then went across the street to another store of our carrier’s, who told us they also couldn’t accept the trade-in return, it had to be mailed. Geez ok. A few more errands and then home. I worked on the back of Belle a little bit and that leads us to today.

So this week, get Belle put together enough for a try-on. Hoping to start either the Star Wars dress or honeymoon Leia, I think I’ve got everything for both, but I’m finally feeling like my manic phase from this summer is fading so I’m not in a rush LOL
