dragoncon is nigh

I’ve decided I’m officially considering this dragoncon #20. Actually I take that back. Going to wait and see how the weekend goes. if it sucks this is dragoncon #19. If it’s great it’s dragoncon #20 LOL. This year would’ve been #20 if they hadn’t canceled last year — but i DID participate in the virtual con last year so I feel like I could count it? If I wanted to?

Just brain things.

So guess what?! Everything is done. I finished up about 8:30 last night.

Chase’s Bail costume, sans-boots.

Got the elastic stirrups sewn onto the pants and a hook and eye closure at the waistband. He got the metal bands glued onto the collar. All done.

It’s going to be fun us both trying to get into Padme and Bail at the same time. Like that time I was in my stormtrooper and he was in Vader and neither of us could help each other LOL. At least that time we had Ash with us.

And of course most of yesterday I was focused on finishing Wanda. It was a lot of hand-sewing left. We did glue the stripes on but I also went back and carefully stitched them on just in case. And then I had to get the hip panels attached. It was a LOT of hand-sewing through hard, sticky fabrics. Had to keep alcohol on hand to clean sticky stuff off the needle, and pliers for working through the stubborn layers of pleather. Bent up a couple of needles. But I got it all attached by about 8.

And then I did go ahead and try it on.

I was not sure how this was going to turn out. I’ve been so frustrated by it at every turn. Already thinking of redoing things. But standing in front of the mirror as Chase zipped up the bodice I had this little Jenna-Marbles “oh hell yeah” moment. I’m obsessed. SO excited to wear this.

So this morning I’ve been packing more, organizing, dealing with the cat (getting all her food set out, cleaning up where she JUST NOW DECIDED TO PUKE). Tonight finish packing, dump the photos on my phone so I have plenty of room, go to bed early cuz I’m tired.

I tried to come up with some kind of schedule yesterday. The best i could do (besides the 2 I’m wearing for specific shoots) is organize the by “these are morning costumes” and “these are afternoon/evening costumes” and “these are late night costumes” and “these are dealer’s room costumes”. So here they are broken up like that:

Morning Costumes:
These are bigger, longer costumes I don’t like to wear at night when it’s crowded, but they’re also not my “main” costumes for the year.
In this category is Raddus Leia, Eliza, Ceremonial Leia and Arwen Hope Gown. So you’ll see those in the mornings or lower crowd times.

Afternoon/Evening Costumes:
These are generally my newer costumes. Wearing during more crowded times but not so many drunk people out yet.
In this category is Scarlet Witch, Padme, and blue glitter Leia.

Late Night Costumes/Dealer Room Costumes:
These are smaller, sillier costumes that are more comfortable for sitting on the floor, standing in line, and running around drinking.
In this category is Diane, Roxy, Trillian and Mothman. Since Diane and Roxy are new they’ll probably be dealer’s room costumes and Trillian and mothman are more late night but there’s definitely a chance they can switch.

The only 2 I have a DEFINITE time I’m wearing are blue glitter Leia to the Leia shoot on friday and Padme to the big star wars shoot friday night.

OMG THAT REMINDS ME
I don’t think I ever posted here what my stupid little blue dress I made was??

This one that I made earlier this summer.

and the wig.

It’s Roxy from Eegah.

Technically I actually made this for MCFC later this year, if it actually happens. Joel Hodgson is their big guest this year so I decided to finally do this Roxy costume I’ve had on my “want” list for ages, and figured why not make it early as a simple dcon costume? Tiny cotton dress, sandals, great for keeping cool in the dealer’s room.
Wish I could’ve found a similar bag but my halfhearted google searches did’t find anything. Maybe later.

Anyway, wish us luck and safety this weekend. I am anxious about it all.
