When I did my birthday blog stuff last month, I had considered doing a post just about Sims stuff… but decided I didn’t have enough content and just folded some of it into the “weird stuff” post. But then today I found out the Sims turned 18 on Feb 4!
So what the heck, I thought I’d go ahead and show some of my fav Sims posts and screencaps from over the years.
SIMS 1
Unfortunately I didn’t keep a lot of my Sims 1 screencaps. Which is super sad because I had some awesome skins. That’s one thing I miss about hte original game – it was so much easier for people to make custom content. I knew how to go in and edit skins in photoshop! I miss that. My favourite set of skins was a Sailor Moon group I downloaded… they had the hair right and everything. I don’t have screencaps of them though 🙁
I apparently bought Sims 1 sometime in January 2001 – I saw people talking about in forums and I wanted to play too! I was immediately addicted. The Saga of the Tessa and Booboo Families and Tootin Fresh Ice Rappin Baby Lil Snoopy T were a few favs. (And, I forgot about how bad it used to crash. I remember dad being on the phone with the tech support for hours one night trying to get it fixed for me…)
This Lord of the Rings family I had was amazing.
I gave them one couch, they had to fight over it.

This Buffy family was awesome too. I had them set up in one house together and I’d play it as a Survivor game, then I wouldn’t save it – reload it and play again.

SIMS 2!
My birthday present to myself in 2004. I had so much trouble with Sims 2 running on my laptop… it got to where when I’d start the game, my computer would just shut off! So frustrating!
Remus Lupin had a spell go awry and got stuck with a spray of water coming out of his hand.
This glitch cracked me up, it stayed like that til I restarted the game.
This was my first Star Wars family, I think.

Started a new random family and this lady came by to greet them. Interesting attire to get meet the new neighbors.
They just left the baby on the floor and went to bed.
I feel like this pretty much sums up the Sims.
SIMS 3
I don’t hardly have any posts or screencaps of the Sims 3. It came out in 2009, and it worked on my laptop fine, I know I played it quite a bit… but there’s just nothing out there. I’m sure I have screencaps saved SOMEWHERE but I don’t have them online if I did.
I think this is my only Sims 3 screencap I have. Han dancing at Leia.
SIMS 4
September 2014 I broke down and bought Sims 4. And I had a HARD time getting used to it. I did have my Pitstains family story not long after, and just in December the story of Meow Lover, two of my fav Sims stories.
Honestly it took me like 2 years to really get into it and get the hang of it. But once I did (and once I realized I could just take pics with my phone instead of digging the screencaps out of the system files…) it really took off!
The creepy nanny – even when I try to play the game straight something weird happens.
This Star Wars family was where it really took off.

The Death of Henry VIII
I love to do Henry VIII families and go through the wives. Katherine Parr was a little upset by finding him dead in the road, Anne of Cleves was laughing.
Disney Princess survivor. Aurora and Ariel survived, forced their way into the neighbor’s house next door, Ariel broke up the husband and wife living there and married the husband.
I had a Queen Victoria Family. They had a gazillion kids. Prince Albert could usually be found down at the beach instead of the house.
Fire in the Star Wars house! Ben was trying to cook breakfast. All the men ran outside. Leia came and put the fire out, and then she and Rey made breakfast.
After my Meow Lover saga, Chase asked me, “Can’t you play a normal family?” So I set one up to show him and right away the dad’s arms got messed up. The game rejects normalcy.

So after I got Pets, I decided to restart my Star Wars family over in the new neighborhood. And then I decided to make the entire neighborhood Star Wars.
Snoke is on fire! But Rey got there in time.

I do love playing Pets. But at the same time it makes the game hard because I don’t want anything bad to happen to them so they’re just kinda stuck always being there because I refuse to let them get old.
I swear Kylo walks around shirtless all the time without me telling him to.
My Admiral Ackbar was a completel failure.
Also he, Mon Mothma and Lando all share a house with one bedroom and they’re constantly waking each other up to take a turn sleeping in the bed.

I then went and put Harry Potter characters all in one neighborhood, Disney is another neighborhood, and one has all LOTR, Game of Thrones and Doctor Who. I still want to do a superhero neighborhood but I’m running out of space.
I did recently also make a Disney family – Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto.
Donald is my fav.
They moved into a fancy apartment and then proceeded to break up the couple living next door.
So anyway. Happy Birthday sims! I think I’m going to go home and make a Sailor Moon family…
