Halloween yay!

Halloween was fun!

So, Friday, I “dressed up” for work. Basically I wore my Janet Snakehole wig and my April Ludgate work ID.

Even thought it was just me and my boss in the office so I don’t know why I bothered! LOL And then Kevin tried on my wig…

We thought about going out Friday night since there were a couple of fun things we’d heard about, but we decided to stay in and save our energy for Saturday. (I ended up with a project that night, though… more later)

Saturday morning we got up, and got dressed. I got Kevin into Harry Potter, and then Chase helped me get into Anne…

We braved the rain and headed over to my grandmother’s retirement community for a while. We took her some of her favourite oatmeal cookies and some flowers, and sat and chatted until it was time for her to go to lunch. She’s been asking me for months now to come visit her in costume so this was a nice opportunity, and I was excited to show her Anne, since it’s probably the costume I’m most proud of.

After that we grabbed lunch, went home and changed and then ate the lunch… and then I started getting into Hermione and pulling out other robes and things in case anybody else wanted to dress up. I also set out a box of candy for the trick-or-treaters on the front porch, hoping that the first kid who came up didn’t just grab the whole thing.

So my Friday night project… I decided I had enough of that velvet I’m using on Merida to make a McGonagall robe for my mom! We’d had dinner on Wednesday and she said she should have made one for the showing Halloween night. So I quickly threw one together (seriously it was an hour long project… just put together very quickly), and found an old hat brim (missing the top part) and cobbled together a hat.

Yay!
It’s too big for her, but I put it together very simply so it can be taken apart, lined, and rehemmed at a later date when we have more time. I’m also replacing the hat!

The movie was a lot of fun. A lot of people came dressed up! The seats weren’t all that comfortable though, and my parents ended up leaving after the first Deathly Hallows. We held out through the 2nd one, but by the time we got out we were STARVING! (They started at 4, we got out right before 10) We just got some Taco Bell (ugh) on the way home.

I think I may need to retire my Hermione. My really nice wool sweater has a hole in the front… I can mend it, but I’m wanting to switch to a Ravenclaw set anyway, so it may be time to sell off my Gryffindor swweater & tie and use the proceeds for buying anew!

My next costume-y things are MCFC in a few weeks and a big white backdrop photoshoot, I’m hoping to do like 12 costumes!!
