Costume Stuff

Breaking today’s post up into 2 posts because my car post got a little long.

I got a decent amount of work done this weekend!

First off, on Friday, I had the sudden realization that I had my dates for Memphis Comic Expo mixed up. I thought I had 2 weeks to finish my costume. Turns out it’s NEXT weekend. Yikes! In all my years of going to cons I have NEVER mixed up the dates like this. Thankfully it’s pretty much done, we just need to finish my armor piece.

So I got the wig finished up and got the horns sewn in place (they’re even enough!) I meant to take a picture when I tried it on and I forgot. I’ll take a pic of it when I go home for lunch and come back and edit it in.

I got my elf ears repainted to match my skintone. I’m glad I decided to go with the longer ears, because the normal LOTR-esque elf ears would NOT have been visible through my wig.

The dress is done, of course. The gloves are done, I have sandals I’m wearing with it. Should be fine on time.

I got the upper part of the Donna Unicorn & the Wasp dress ready for the beading/hand-embroidery over the weekend.

I liked the serpentine stitch as a base so I'm going with it.Getting started on my Donna Unicorn & the Wasp dress again - I started it in 2014, put in hold, and decided to start all over again this year.

I finished doing that serpentine stitch all over the top part of the designs. The straight lines at the top (closest to the bottom of the photo), I may pull out and redo, they ended up being a little wobblier than I’d like. I may do those by hand instead.
Tonight I’ve got to run out and get some new beads. The size of the ones I had for last year are just too large. Need something smaller.
