Today’s update

I got the top section of chiffon sewn in place and the edges cauterized. Started on the second section – after I took this picture I got it sewn in place, too.

Tonight I’ve got to finish the back edge because it’s really hard to pin and work with stuff on it when it’s all droopy because there’s no closure. I’m going to go ahead and finish the chiffon upper sections and then focus on going back and tacking areas that need tacked down, which so far is a handful of places to keep the pleats from wanting to all clump together.

I’m really hoping to get the top pleated sections totally finished tonight (except for the tacking) so I can start on the skirts/ruffles tomorrow night.
Like I said, this is not going to be the best thing I’ve ever made. Part of the problem was starting it way earlier this year, losing track of where I was, trying to start on it again, rinse and repeat, it made the whole construction of the base dress kinda fractured. At this point I feel like I’m just slopping fabric on it and hoping it sticks. But ah well, c’est la vie.
