Superman celebration pics and updates

Sorry I haven’t posted, I’ve been working a lot recently, trying to get as much done for Dragoncon as possible; plus my laptop crashed last week! (Chase managed to save it)

Here’s the whole gallery of Superman Celebration pics.

I don’t remember what I said in my last post so I’m sorry if I repeat anything! Friday we got out of town in the midst of a giant storm, had a beautiful drive once we got out of the rain.
Saturday we got up, and I decided to put on Black Canary. I’d just brought that costume as a backup in case Huntress didn’t work out, but I decided to go ahead and put it on in the morning. We wanted to walk down to the festival and get a feel for the place before I put on something like Huntress.

After that I was so icky and hot I went back to the hotel, showered and napped before putting on Huntress LOL

Huntress worked out all right. It definitely needs some tweaking. I loved my mask, and Chase said he can use the mold to make some other masks for other costumes for me (including one for dcon I want to do..). it fits perfectly and was so light weight. I want to darken up the lavender pieces a little more and change the belt boxes. I need to monkey with the fit on the suit, it looked fine as long as I was standing completely straight up, but if I leaned even a little the sides buckled. I think a little more messing with it I can get it a little better.
I liked the purple, and I’m glad I didn’t go with plain black, because the purple was so eye-catching. I do think I’m going to get Chase to airbrush some darker shadows on it, though, to give it some more depth.

And then we got Birds of Prey group shots

Power Girl, Superman and Huntress… and my cape.

I kept picking the cape up everytime I walked and it pulled it out of alignment. I had sewn on some velcro to keep it in place, but didn’t like how it looked so I took it off. I think I need to put it back on so I can make sure it stays in place.

Then back to the hotel… another shower, another nap, then I put on Zatanna.

And this is where I got the five blisters on my heels and fishnet tanlines on my legs LOL

We went back, I showered and had another nap (LOL) then we went to dinner with the SOSI gang. After that we went in search of bandaids for my heels and sunscreen for Sunday.

Sunday morning we went and got breakfast then packed up the room. I put on WW and we checked out and loaded up the car.
I was really excited to wear it because I finished my new boots for it finally, after almost two years of saying I was going to replace the stupid sandals.

The costume contest was very quick (in comparison to at a convention anyway) so that was really good because it was really hot again LOL

I love this shot:

And then I ran to the car, pulled it all off, threw it in the trunk and we went home LOL
It was a really short drive up there. And a pretty one (much prettier than Memphis-Nashville.) So we are definitely thinking of going back, because it was a lot of fun. I really wanted to take Kevin, but his summer camp he loves is the same week. Maybe next year we can get Friday off and pick him up from camp friday and take him up there with us.

Anyway. Not really costume news, but we were approved for our home loan. THAT is why I’ve been trying to get as much sewing done as possible – we’ve got to move at the beginning of August. We’re house-hunting like crazy right now, and starting to pack up stuff we don’t need. I’m really excited, I just hope my work room has a decent size closet… LOL

I seriously love your Huntress outfit! It looks so amazing! And you did excellent work on the white lining, tried doing it on a costume from the anime Naruto, and it didn’t quite come out right and kept folding on itself at the corners. Meh.

And congrats on the home loan! 🙂

Gosh, moving again? I thought you finally got settled! 🙂

Hopefully after this we will be! We’re renting right now, and we’d planned to do that for 2 years before buying a house, but with the market the way it is now we thought we just ought to go ahead. (Plus they’re uping our rent for another year – we could be paying way less monthly on our own house than to continue renting here!)

Great pictures! I loved the Huntress costume and you’re right-the purple is very eye-catching! How did you make the mask?

It was great to meet you and see all your lovely costumes in person at SC!

And good luck with the house and moving stuff!
