Timothy Zahn Signing Pics! & Leia updates

Well, I Istill/i haven’t worked on anything lately. I did get my ceremonial Leia skirt pieces out and washed them, since it had gotten something on it while laying around in the sewing room (who knows what, probably paint or something. It came off).
Mum agreed tonight to look at it with me and help me figure out where I am with it – I don’t remember! I think what had happened was we put the darts in the skirt before I sewed the pieces together, then I went and sewed them wrong side out. So we took the darts out and were just going to put them back in on the inside, instead of having to take apart all the skirt pieces again (I’m lining the skirt with itself, so it was four pieces of the same, slippery material and was a pain the arse to sew together).
Wow, ok, I’m rambling.

That’s my goal, though, to get back on Ceremonial Leia and get her finished before the end of February — I’m going to take part in this next run of Rebel Legion trading cards, and I want to have that one done before it. Speaking of which, I’m trying to finish taking pictures of the costumes I need good pictures of — we did Mustafar Padme last night.

Tonight I really want to do Battle Padme, but I think I have repair work to do on the shinguards and the belt, so I may do something quicker like Corde.

Tuesday we drove up to Nashville to do the Timothy Zahn book signing. It was a LOT of fun and definitely worth the mid-week drive. It was nice to wear something other than Leia to a local event… Mara went over well, but it was hot in there so I suffered from the Ross-Leather-Pants syndrome when changing. Haha.

Me Timothy Zahn. Thanks to Derek for this pic!

This event was the first one I got to take the little camera to. It was LOT easier than dragging the Canon Rebel around. I’ll be able to slip it inside my Leia boot when I’m wearing Leia.

Glenn very kindly brought a magenta coloured lightsaber for me to carry! Thanks Glenn! I did ‘shop the blade in my pictures, since in flash pictures it doesn’t look like anything, but it looked great in person (and in non-flash pics)
We got to sign a lot of the kids’ books, after they had gotten Timothy Zahn’s autograph. I was tickled pink so many kids knew who I was dressed as and wanted my signature.
(Although — I did overhear one kid saying, “Who is she?” and his friend said, in a “duh” tone of voice, “That’s Darth Maul!” First time I ever got mistaken for Darth Maul…!)

Starla made a cake, with the book cover on it! Awesome!

The whole gallery.

Tomorrow we are doing a Make-A-Wish event in Clarksville. My Leia dress had been in Chase’s Vader bin since the Christmas parades, so it got washed last night.

Oh! And we are definitely going to the Atlanta St Patrick’s Day Parade — I told them what costumes I had that I knew weren’t already being represented — and they said they would prefer my Queen Amidala parade dress. So I guess I’m wearing it once more! It should be fun! I hope the weather is as pretty as it was last year.
And the weekend after that is Midsouthcon… whew I got a lot of work to do. I need to get cracking.
