Dragoncon2006: Saturday pics!

Saturday morning was the parade! I had to iron that monster of my lake dress, and we didn’t really get my hair on right – we were in a hurry because we were running late! Neither of us went to the 501st pic, but by the time we got to the staging area, the parade was just starting, so that was lucky! Since the Rebel Legion and 501st march last, we were able to hang around and watch part of the parade for a while.

Cat and Ash staked out a spot on the parade route – Ash took the photos, Cat took video. Here we go!

Me! Mel was my handmaiden- she kept my dress from touching the ground. Unfortunately thanks to the wind, my knot at the bottom was coming undone – but it made for pretty pictures and the weather was beautiful! First year I didn’t get overheated in the parade!

Chase in his mando. He forgot his backplate so he didn’t have a cape.

Then we had a quick breakfast and walked down to find the lineup for the RL picture. We went down all three levels and never saw anyone – and it was 11:40, step off was supposed to be at noon. Turns out they were all in the back of the lobby level where no one could see them – the Marriott staff wouldnt let them gather up front. We felt bad about missing it.

Then I got into my Mando again – I had put the pants on backwards that day (they really dont have a front or back) and didn’t realise till I had already gotten almost everything on – I went to put my knee armour on and the velcro wasn’t there (it was behind my knee!) So I peeled the velcro off and moved it to the front – but then it wouldn’t hold. Oh well.

I’m really pleased with the mando. It still needs some work, but I love how it looks, plus it’s comfy.

As soon as the mando pic was done, I ran into the public bathroom and changed into Slave Leia for the slave Leia shoot – lucky for me the mando and leia shoots were in the same location, with a bathroom right there! I got changed quick and came back out – I forget who said it, but I have to repeat it, folks were impressed with how fast I changed – “superman’s got nothing on you!”

I carried my mando gun with leia, since I forgot to bring one of my guns down with me.

The Slave Leia shoot was huge! I heard someone say there were 25 of us. We caused a traffic problem with people stopping to take pics, security had to come and keep telling people to keep moving. It was certainly something. I had originally planned on wearing Slave Leia again later that night, but there were so many Leias there throughout the con I decided not to. Anyway –

Yeah, we all learned not to lean on Jabba, as it would get green latex on us. It took quite a few minutes of heavy scruffing to get this off my leg. Ah well, that’s Jabba funk for you!

Afterwards we went upstairs so I get in Corde. Chase stayed with me during the contest, and helped Chris with his R2 unit. After the onstage part was over, we found the girls in the audience and sat by them. I loved the recption I got to Corde! Plus it was so comfy. If I wear it again i’m going to do some darker weathering on it, though.

The contest was looooooong – and all I’d had that day for my “breakfast” was half a reese’s cup. So I died of hunger while waiting on the contest to end.

Once it was over, the girls went and ate at Hard Rock, while Chase and I hit the food court. Then we took some more pics of Corde…

Then Chase was ready to get into his turtle – so I put on my thrown together April O’Neil costume.

Second pic from Jess!

Then the girls stole me away from Chase and I went and put Animated Leia on – we went and drank a bit in the Hyatt then found the Buffy prom again and danced for hours!
