oh captain my captain
Well I’m here for my usual Monday post, surprisingly. I’ll talk about the tooth stuff at the end, let’s talk fun stuff first, because it’s time for the Halloween week recap. AND I have the last of the backdrop pics!

I don’t think I’ve ever had as many white backdrop pics for one costume as I did this one.

It was about 120 I uploaded. It’s usually about 40-50 per costume.

I dunno if I want to submit to RL yet. Or wait til I replace the ribbons and rehem the skirt.
Anyway site is all updated! Now onto Halloween week…

First, we early voted last week! I wore my Amidala sweatshirt.

Here’s my Monster Market haul from the week before. I mostly got patches because I’ve been wanting to deck out my jean jacket with patches, been collecting for about a year now. Need to sit down and start sewing them on. I’m trying to lean into weirdness – Area 51, Aliens, cryptids, X-Files, David Lynch/Twin Peaks, that kind of stuff so Monster Market was a great spot for getting some relevant patches. I also got a pin that says “I made this” – that’ll be fun to add to costumes and stuff.

Luna has decided the bedroom is her spot lately. She’s been sleeping with us every night, goes back to bed around 9am after breakfast, and last week she was hiding behind the door staring at me through the crack. Such a weirdo.
Also I need to mention somewhere in here that I’m completely devastated over Patrick Stewart. I haven’t been hit that hard since Carrie. I’m very grateful I got to meet him and get my pic with him back in 09. My Captain! (crying emoji)
Wednesday night we picked up Kevin, because directly after work Thursday we needed to leave for Spooky Science.

All that jazz
I decided to wear Boushh. Which meant getting dressed there, which is something I haven’t done in probably 20 years LOL. It went ok… I had the tunic pulled in overlapping itself too much which looked funny, and Chase couldn’t get the bandolier on right – I think neither of us could remember exactly how it went because it fit fine back in january. Oh well.

Next year we need to wear our ESB Luke and Leia — last year we got a pic in front of this mural in our ANH ceremonial Luke and Leia, and this year it was ROTJ, so now we need to complete the Trifecta. Kevin doesn’t actually have a true ESB Luke, but we can make it work between his ANH farmboy outfit and the bound I put together for him 2022. The Yoda backpack will do a lot of the heavy lifting LOL

Always gotta go check in on the progress of this guy getting his foot amputated. As Ash said when we texted it to her “Maybe one day they’ll get that foot off.”
Once Kevin started groaning and stretching his legs we knew he was reaching limit so we headed out. Stopped at MPC for dinner where Kevin forgot how to eat pizza.

Put all of my plastic pumpkins in the front yard with battery lights in them. It was cute. Only had them on for one night though LOL.
Friday Chase had a photography gig so Kevin and I chilled. Watched the Exorcist. It’s my Halloween comfort movie – there is something about it that is just so cozy to me LMAO And Kevin had never seen it! (At least, he says he hadn’t, he’s probably forgotten.) Does Father Karras count as a hear-me-out? Because….
Anyway then he picked It part 1 to watch, which has HAS seen (the new one). He was getting a little freaked out and I kept asking if we needed to turn it off and switch to Beetlejuice but he kept saying he needed to see what happened next. Then he wanted his light on that night LOL
Saturday met my parents for breakfast, did some running around.

Went to Hallmark because I wanted to get the new Star Trek shuttlecraft ornament – I have my parents’ original one, and a replacement one I bought several years ago, but both no longer play the audio clip. So I really wanted this new reissue! Sadly it looks and feels so much cheaper than the original. But I’ll put all 3 next to each other on the tree, play the audio from the new one and look at the old one LOL
After a nap we headed over to nana and kristie’s for halloween night festivities.

We had pizza and hung out in the driveway handing out candy. They had a big rush of trick or treaters – it was fun, but I spent most of the night taking silly pics and doing videos with Kevin.

I just wore jedi Leia, it was the easiest thing and goes with his Jedi Luke, though I wish I’d just done regular Leia, regular folks trick or treating wouldn’t have cared that ANH Leia had a lightsaber LOL

Saturday while we were driving around, I was thinking it’d be fun to do a video to the audio of Obi Wan vs Anakin while we were in Luke and Leia later that night. I pulled up the script for it and prompted Kevin with the first line to see if he knew what it was — he KNEW THE WHOLE THING BY HEART. I had no idea LOL So we did record the video that night, using this red light in the yard as a the “mustafar glow” – and he was over to the side prompting me on my lines because he knew the whole dang thing LOL I was so impressed!

My saber died before his did. Of course I was changing the colour and the mode every other time I turned it on, whereas he was using his disney saber.
After trick or treating wound down, we took Kevin home, got him settled and then the rain started. FINALLY. It has hardly rained all month.
Sunday we were lazy. It was time change and still overcast. I put Halloween away. Cleaned up upstairs a bit. Headed out to a bday party that evening, then came home and chilled on the couch. I was super tired and was falling asleep by nine, so I went to bed early.
I’m off today. Because I had my oral surgery this morning. It went ok. I am now down one tooth, but it could’ve been worse and I’m feeling grateful for that. Currently feeling ok, like 1/10 pain, mostly just irritated at the nasty gauze in my mouth. I hate that. Can’t really talk because of the placement of the stitches and where the gauze is sitting, but hoping that that lessens as the day goes on and I can take the gauze out.
I don’t really want to talk a lot about it because I really write these posts for me to look back on and read years down the road more than I do for the public, and this is not really something I’m going to want to read about in 10 years LOL But, at the moment I’m not feeling as down and anxious about it as I was earlier this summer. It sounds like an implant will be possible, thank goodness. I have a follow up appointment last week so they can see how everything is looking.
I’ve been dreading this day for months so I’m so glad to have it behind me and I really hope that means the worst of all of this is over. Now I gotta get through next week’s follow up and then I can focus on DISNEY!
