ugh x200
Well happy Monday I woke up at 4am with an upset stomach. Still bothering me 5 hours later. Plus I was off Friday so I had a ton of emails to dig through this morning whilst dealing with that.
But despite this morning’s rocky start I got a lot done over the last week.
I finished embroidering the back and front of the blouse last week. I got a lot faster and my stitches looking a lot better on the front panel. I didn’t do any flowers on either of these since they won’t be seen – they were really just for practicing the chain stitches. Today I’ll start one of the sleeves and I’ll do flowers on those.
Oh! And I did get the Padme doll last week – I was able to check out with her then went back and saw the ears were still available, so I got them too in a separate shipment. And then Jess mentioned the Syndulla Kalikori was supposed to be back in stock but already sold out – I went to look at it and it let me add it to my cart, so I bought that for her. And it all arrived Wednesday LOL. Of course it all delivered just as the celebration debacle was unfolding, so I didn’t get to open it until later that night, and it was a rather somber unboxing LOL

She’s so pretty tho! And huge! LOL I don’t know if I want to unbox it or not. For now I have it stacked on top of my Leia doll who is also still in her box.
I took Friday off. No reason. My plan was to embroider all day, but I woke up deciding to film the Leia video I’ve had planned since December. Seriously I’ve had all of my senatorial Leia costume stuff sitting out in my sewing room since December. I wanted to put it all away, so I decided to just knock out that morning. Well it took me way longer to film that I expected. Then I had lunch, and then decided since I already have costume make up on, I might as well film a Shin dressing video too while I still have it out from Huntsville, so I did that. And that was my whole day.

Luna was very confused why I was still in bed at 9am friday morning. Came beating on the door, I opened it for her and got back in bed and she just sat there staring at me.

Got a new plant she’s been intrigued by.
Saturday in my sewing room she wouldn’t leave me alone. Wanted to be right on me being petted and biting if I wasn’t petting. So I set up a distraction zone for her:

Stuck an old feather in a drawer and let her play with it.

Didn’t last long though, 5 minutes later she’s glaring at me all dramatic.
But then she realized the sun was warm right there and went to sleep. She followed the sunbeam across the floor all afternoon LOL.
Despite her bothering me, I accomplished a lot.

I got the main layer of the leotard made, altered (had to take in the side seams, the crotch seams and the side back seam at the butt), sewn to the mock-up/lining layer I made a couple of weeks ago at the leg holes, closed up the arm holes, made the collar (black jumbo spandex, the silver spandex on the outside, and a layer of thick interfacing on the inside for shaping), got it attached, and then installed that black zipper which was very finicky. It’s not perfect, but this is just a silly costume and I’m not going to torture myself over the fact the zipper is slightly misaligned.
Sunday I got the shoulder pads made and and sewn on:

It’s soooo goofy.
Also got the basic pants for Chase’s matching costume cut and sewn together and taken in:

Just need to add the elastic at the waist and ankles. I don’t think I have any, so I put it on the shopping list for a future run.
So that was a good amount of work done for the weekend. On mine, the leotard is done, but I need to finish the skirt. In some scenes it looks like there’s 2 layers of the skirt, and in some scenes it only looks like 1. So I’m going to wait until I’m done with all of the silver fabric I need for Chase’s costume (still gotta make the top), and if I have enough left for another skirt layer I may add it. Or I may not. I do think I’m going to take the silver waistband off either way – in some scenes it’s either a silver waistband or belt, and in some it’s a black belt. I think I’m going to take the waistband off, just finish the top edge with a strip of the silver fabric, and buy a black belt. It’ll tie in with the black boots better. Gotta buy a wig too.
Anyway, with that mostly done I now need to turn my attention to Morticia. I need to start figuring out the under-things. But for this week I’m going to be focusing on picnic Padme. I want to get the sleeves done this week and hopefully maybe assemble the blouse this weekend? And I also really need to get the skirt panels assembled. I think I’m going to have to add an extension at the waistband to make it long enough – the center point of each circle skirt panel is slightly too short. I’ve been avoiding dealing with that. I’m going to do the extension on the top – so hopefully most of it is covered by the bodice, and any that does show I can hopefully hide with the embroidery.
Went out for Mother’s Day last night – have to wonder if what I ate last night made me sick. I’ve had it a bunch of times before, it’s one of my fav things, but I can’t think of any other reason.
Goals this week:
-finish sleeve embroidery
-assemble bodice
-assemble skirt
-start skirt embroidery?
That’s it, that’ll be a good chunk if I can get to that point by next Monday.
Oh adding this blog header reminded me.. Chase and I just randomly watched part of Twilight saturday night. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen it and we were rolling at how unintentionally (intentionally?) funny it is. From this scene to Edward’s little finger move when he sits down at the table in the cafeteria to the running up the mountain to sparkle in the sun LOL It was very enjoyable and now I want to rewatch the rest of them too.
