We just have some bad fucking luck with Star Wars Celebration. From the shitty experience at Celebration 2005 (bad weather, couldn’t get into anything), to not being able to go in 2007 because of our wedding planning, to having a hotel for Chicago and then not having the money to drop on tickets when they came out so we missed out, to our one day experience in Orlando getting yelled at by multiple security people for no good reason and Chase losing part of our Han belt… to yesterday for Anaheim.

Got in the queue as soon as it started. Me here at home and Chase at work. Our little status bar guys just sat still for forever. Finally started moving. Slowly. Was only about 1/4 across the progress bar when the VIP sold out – fine, didn’t want those anyway. Was not even halfway across the progress bar when 4 days sold out. Finally got in just under 4 hours with only Thursday and Sunday left.

We’ve already told Kevin and Scott we wanted them to go with us, so we had to get 4. Got 4 Thursday, and 4 Sunday, and while refreshing I did manage to snag 2 Friday tickets, but at that point it said “limit reached” and even when I removed Sunday there were no more Fridays to add. So I ended up with 4x Thursday, 4x Sunday and 2x Friday.

I’m ok with missing Saturday if we can just snag two more Friday tickets. Chase’s phone and my ipad were still in the queue, so a few minutes later the ipad finally got in and I refreshed a bunch and occasionally a single Friday or Saturday would pop up but I wasn’t fast enough to get it in my cart. Then it all sold out. And of course by the time I got tickets, hotels were completely gone – thank god I booked backup already.

Since Reedpop has done verified resells in the past (through a company that no longer exists, but still) I’m hoping they’ll do that here. Especially since they let people buy TWENTY 4 days at a time? There was no reason for that, that was just for scalpers and bots.

Ideally I’d love to get 2 more Fridays, 4 Saturdays, and then sell our Sundays. I don’t enjoy the last day of cons LOL.

So I’m not completely able to plan anything for this, which is frustrating. We’re left with a few scenarios for now:

1. Scenario 1 – nothing changes and we go with Thursday and Sunday tickets, and 2 tickets for Friday
I wear 2 costumes Thursday, probably only 1 on Sunday because the con probably ends at like 2pm. Friday we switch out. I suggested we get universal tickets that day – me and Kevin will go to the con in the morning while Chase and Scott go to Universal, and then halfway through the day we switch. Once the con ends the boys can join us at Universal? Saturday we can do the other LA stuff we were planning to do after the trip.
So max I’m probably looking at 4 costumes.

2. Scenario 2 – we get 2 more Friday tickets and can now all go for 3 days
Much easier. I can do 2 costumes Thursday, 2 Friday (maybe shoehorn in a 3rd?) and 1 Sunday?

3. Scenario 3 – we get Friday and Saturday tickets and we sell the Sunday tickets
2 Thursday, 2 Friday, 2 Saturday. Six is what I was planning to take on the basis of getting 4 day tickets.

The only new thing I was thinking of doing was ANH Leia, but with a truncated weekend I don’t know that I will.

Here’s the things I’ve been thinking about bringing:

1. Wedding Leia – won’t take up much suitcase space
2. Bespin Leia – same, but I did wear it to Celebration 2017 so maybe not
3. Lake dress – worried about transporting the jewelry and wig, but I think I could make it work
4. Picnic dress – I think this one will travel pretty easily
5. Breha Organa – pretty bulky but I’d love to wear this again
6. Ceremonial Leia – would pack pretty easily
7. Shin – Chase talked about taking Baylan, but this definitely wouldn’t fit in a suitcase. We’d have to ship these
8. Mara Jade Green Tunic – doesn’t take up a lot of space besides the boots, might be a good downtime costume?
9. ANH Leia – like I said above, I dunno now, but I do want to get more wear out of those boots and I’d love to make a new dress and belt.
10. Star Wars dress – for wearing out sometime non-convention

So yeah that’s my pity party blather about celebration. Here’s hoping this all straightens out in the next few months and I can actually properly plan.
