monsoon season

Once again today I have no sewing/costume progress to show you. I have been embroidering like mad but there’s nothing to show for it right now. I DID finish the front panel, which means I’m over halfway done. I finally counted and I have 10 panels – and I’m on panel 7 now. I’m on track to be done with the chain stitch by the 4th of july holiday weekend. Hooray!

As soon as it’s done I need to steam it and let it hang before monkeying with the hem again. While it’s doing that I’ll turn my attention back to the blouse – start getting the flowers done there, add more sequins (I was very stingy with sequins on the blouse pieces LOL) and then I can get that assembled. I also need to get back to the bodice cut outs so I can start the embroidery there.

I am having fun just camping on the couch embroidering though so I’m kinda sad to be done with it. I maaay end up recutting one sleeve and redoing it because that one test flower I did I hate LOL I should’ve done it on a scrap instead of an actual part!

Speaking of, I need to get wash away stabilizer soon…

Last week was great. I had Thursday and Friday off – I took them off to have a mini-Kevin vacation. He didn’t get to go to camp this year, so I decided to take a few days off and do some fun things with him.

I picked him up Wednesday and we talked about He-Man in the car. I realized I forgot his phone at his house and showed him on Find My that “he” (AKA his phone) was still at his house. We talked about his contact pic and info in my phone and I asked if he wanted to change it – he said he wanted his picture to be him as He-Man. So I drew this for him broadcasting to the tv so he could watch me draw it LOL

So now that’s his contact pic in my phone. We also change his name which is really throwing me off.

We made spaghetti (his fav) for dinner and watched Poltergeist.

Thursday we got up, got dressed, and headed to the theater to see He-Man!

When we got to the theater the lobby was CHAOS – it was full of 4 busloads worth of like 2nd-3rd grade age kids. Thankfully they were all leaving LOL

I thought I’d timed things pretty well – the movie is just a couple of minutes over 2 hours, showtime 12:30, and he had a haircut appt at 3:15. So we’d get out around 2:45, perfect timing to get us to his appt. I forgot to factor in previews, and at 2:55 the movie was still going. We had to sneak out, with just like a minute left to go (like literally as Adam is running off to change into He-Man at the very end). I felt so bad for making him miss the last minute and the post credits but we were gonna be late! We were still like 2 minutes late but thankfully not worse than that.

Stopped and got some cookies on the way home where Kevin saw Abraham Lincoln. Kevin had leftover spaghetti for dinner while Chase and I had our homechef meal, and Kevin and I watched Weapons. Kevin said he needed a “palate cleanser” after it before going to bed LOL He watched a little bit of Lego Batman.

Friday Chase was off too! He went to the gym while Kevin and I got up, ate breakfast, and got sunscreened up for the pool. When Chase got home we headed over to Nana’s for an hour of floating around. It was so nice.

This snapchat filter was appropriate for the day LOL

We had lunch with Nana and Kristie and Rach after that, then I gave Kevin the option to stay with us the rest of the day, run errands, and have some more leftover spaghetti for dinner – or go on home. He picked home as I knew he would but was hoping the allure of spaghetti would convince him to hang with us LOL TBF I didn’t really enjoy running errands after swimming either!

I did, however, finally get Badgey in this Star Trek blind box series. I’ve avoided buying another one of these – first one was Rutherford, which I gave away to a Rutherford cosplayer at Dragoncon last year. Second was Boimler, and I plan on doing the same this year – should be a Boimler around with all of the Lower Decks guests. Didn’t really want either – I wanted a Mariner, Tendi or especially Badgey! So thankfully this time I got Badgey.

So we dropped him off, ran errands, came home and napped. The rest of the weekend was eating at home and embroidering, until yesterday. Chase looooves Ocean’s 11 and it was showing for its 25th anniversary so we went to see it. It was fun to see it on the big screen! Then we had dinner reservations nearby – didn’t get home til nearly 8:30 so no more embroidery for the day, I spent the last of the evening drawing.

Today has been back to work chaos. But it’s raining so that’s nice.

I have a doctor appointment Wednesday which I’m not looking forward to and trying not to think about.

Ok so now let’s do a Leia art update! Here’s what I accomplished off of last week’s to-do list:

End of ESB

Sandstorm

Force Ghost

The comic suit with the bespin hair and the white bodysuit with grey panels (ugh another bodysuit)

Green 80s dress

EU Maternity outfit

Princess of Alderaan ceremonial variation

Zeltron dress

And last week when I made that list I was almost done with the concept art version, so I didn’t include it in that list, but here it is finished now:

What a weird sketch to interpret.

So I have left:
1. the braids down Hoth outfit she was messing in around in on set, I know it’s not canon but it’s cute
2. The comic “adventure” variation with the fancier hair (ugh another hoth variation)
3. TFU 2 Jedi outfit
4. Harbinger dress
5. Poster dress
6. Splinter of Mind’s Eye (in progress)
7. Blue vest/brown pants (ugh another vest and pants)
8. Mal’ary’ush dress (would be fun to interpret?)
9. White dark side armor

I need to stop messing around and figuring out which things I want to print as stickers and get them sent off. I’ll make myself do that this week.
