I still don’t have much to talk about this week LOL

Tuesday we went to see Project Hail Mary with my parents.

I went into it knowing nothing about except Ryan Gosling in a fox sweater, space, and a creature of some sort named Rocky. I loved it!

Now I want to read the book – but I’m in the middle of a large book series and I don’t want to stop or I know I won’t pick it up again. I’m 75% enjoying the book series, but it’s one of those that changes POVs every chapter (or couple of chapters) and when they switch back to one character in particular… I’m just like UGH and i put the book down and don’t pick it up for a while because I don’t want to read that chapter. I’ve gotten to where I just kinda skim them to get past it and get back to the good parts. But just finished book 3 and started book 4, and so far so good.

Thursday we finally had our new dishwasher installed! We bought this dishwasher last SUMMER and it’s sat in our garage this whole time while we handwash dishes because our ancient dishwasher that came with the house doesn’t do shit. Chase felt like he could install it himself, and finally got around to trying a few weeks ago. After a few minutes, he decided it required a professional. So the professional came Thursday to do the install. Dad came to hang out with me for the day so I could work and not be distracted and also just to not be alone, and I’m very glad for it because the guy was here for SIX HOURS. Well, he had to leave twice to get parts. Dunno exactly what took so long. But I enjoyed hanging out with dad all day, he played music for me while I worked and we just had a good time. Haven’t broken in the new dishwasher yet – Chase had to go get something to keep it from rocking when we were out this weekend – so hopefully going to try it out soon.

I DID finally start on picnic Padme.

Agonized over doing a double circle skirt because I knew that was going to use up all of my fabric and I didn’t want to have to buy more. I decided to try to get away with a circle skirt and a half. Somehow one of my “half” panels ended up like nearly 2 inches shorter than the other ones?? It was way too short. So fuck it, I took the two “half” panels off and two more “full” panels to replace them and I’m glad I did because it looks much better as a double circle skirt. I’m going to have to order more fabric for the top now, but at least I have a coupon from the last order I can use.

I was really hoping to have it put together enough I could take it with my Sunday to Chase’s photoshoot to start working on the embroidery, but that mess-up put me behind, so it stayed home.

But before we get to Sunday, let’s talk about Saturday. Chase had an appointment out in Millington at 8:45 AM to get his windows tinted. That’s like a good 30-40 minute drive away, so we were gonna have to get up early to go out there. The plan was to take the car to the shop, and after it was done go get breakfast. Well, our neighbors let their dogs out at 6am and they just started barking and never stopped. I tried staying in bed hoping they’d take them in and I could get a few more minutes of sleep, but by 7 I said fuck it, let’s just go ahead and go get breakfast first and then go to your tint appointment. So we got on out of the house extra early, had breakfast out in Millington, went to the tint appt which took about 45 minutes. Then went to a few stores in the area, and an antique mall.

Didn’t buy anything. Culture Club Snoopy was tempting, but more than I’d want to spend.

Also found a few options for my weird porcelain dog collection, these salt and pepper shakers almost came home with me.

After that we had to make the trek all the way back into regular Memphis for our usual Saturday errands. After all that, we didn’t get home til nearly 3. Long day! Had a nap and Chase cooked dinner. I worked on Padme a little bit.

Sunday was another long day – Chase had a shoot with a client and asked me to come along to assist. We got there at 10. I helped out for a bit, but overall I wasn’t really needed. I sat in the side room reading my book for most of the morning. They took a break around 1 and I decided to go to the car and take a nap LOL

Did that, watched some tiktoks, and Chase finally finished up around 4:30. Another long day! Picked up dinner on the way home and we chilled the rest of the night.

We’re going to have to talk to the neighbors about their dogs. Letting them out so early in the morning and just leaving them out to bark. Right now, the dogs have been out barking for about an hour and it’s 8:17am. The noise gets so old when I’m awake, and even worse being woken up to it and not being able to go back to sleep.

Anyway, I have an update from my last post about the costumes I’m going to take to HSV Expo, because I forgot that the con doesn’t start until 3 in the afternoon, which kinda negates the idea of a Friday morning costume.

Here’s what I’m thinking: maybe take Tatooine Padme along and do a photoshoot with her Friday morning in the pretty park area? Or not. Maybe we just chill that morning, go do some stuff in Huntsville. Get into Leia around 2, wear that Friday. Bring T’Lyn for only if I have time/feel like changing Friday, but now she’s only a back-up, not a definite.
Saturday will be Scarlet Witch morning, Shin Hati afternoon.
Sunday we go home.

Speaking of costume plans, I did start thinking about Dragoncon last night, because I need to figure out what old stuff I’m taking and what repairs I may need to do. I want to bring back a lot of old favorites for my Dragoncon #25.

So I’m bringing 3 new costumes (Picnic Padme and 2 more), that leaves me with 9 slots. I may let myself slide up to 13 depending on how many of these are “comfy late night costumes” like Scully or Trillian.

So here’s the “old” things I’m considering – the first 4 are pretty definite:
1. Belle ballgown 2025 – because the only place I can ever really wear this is Dragoncon, so I need to bring it back.
2. Scully – late night, and because I now have glasses that go with it so I can actually SEE!
3. Lady Jessica
4. Padme lake dress – (need to fix the wig after the photoshoot last year – got the bottom “curl” edge a little too tight and need to sew all the bands on a little better.)
5. Donna Unicorn & the Wasp? I feel like I have to bring a Donna and if I’m bringing a Donna it’ll be this one.
6. Breha? Haven’t gotten to wear her again except for the May 4th shoot.
7. Lucy? Because I never got to wear it anywhere again, it’s just a lot for a regular con.
8. Bespin Leia? because it’s a fav.
9. Trillian? Good late night option and it’s always been a fav of mine.
10. Dr Forrester? Another good late night one as long as I don’t cart Tom around. With the MST3k/rifftrax stuff upcoming seems like good timing.
11. Hippolyta? Need some superhero rep in the line up, I love my Hippolyta but she prob needs a lot of repairs.
12. Marie Antoinette TARDIS? I’d like to put it back in the 2014 formation.
13. Ms Marvel? A much easier option for the superhero rep than Hippolyta – but not sure I’m comfortable wearing it anymore.
14. Kingdom Come Wonder Woman? this would be my top pick for superhero rep, but it needs a lot of work — off the top of my head, the helmet needs repaired (and possibly repainted?), the boots need repaired, not sure the skirt fits anymore, what do I do about that? and want to make the “WW” on the chest more apparent, maybe see about rigging up my 09 WW chestpiece to it? Shield and spear also need repairs.
15. Boushh? With all the new upgrades and new helmet. It needs more upgrades but I feel like what I did last year is enough to at least make it wearable for a couple of hours.
16. Corde? It’d be fun to bring that back. I never wore it anywhere else.
17. Shadowcat? I’d love to bring back a 2002 original. This is probably the oldest costume I can bring back, I don’t think anything else from 2002-2005 is in good enough shape or fits anymore (except Arwen from 05 – but I wore her last year.)

If I’m going to pick 9-10 more from that list, at the moment, I’m thinking Shadowcat, KC Wonder Woman, Boushh, Marie Antoinette TARDIS, Trillian, Lucy, and Breha (plus the definite Belle, Lady Jessica, Padme lake and Scully). Maybe switch out Lucy or Breha for the Donna. We’ll see. I’m sure I’ll change my mind a hundred times in just the next week, much less before dragoncon.
