Marie Antoinette wig Progress

So here's some more on the Antoinette wig saga. In my last update post, I posted a pic of it and said I wasn't happy, ripped it all apart and cut down the foam insert. Honestly, besides feeling it was a tad taller than I wanted, I'd also gotten the wig cap too small. It was hard to fit on my head and I didn't want to have to wrestle ...

Sneak Peeks: Lady Blackhawk, Donna Noble, etc

Here's a few pics I took of stuff I was working on fri-sat. Trying on Lady Blackhawk. My hat is huge! LOL. I will always have that problem because I have a tiny head. Hippolyta embroidery. It's not perfect, but it's going to show up a LOT better than the original drawn on lines. It's a pain and taking longer than I expected, because I'm having to go through the ...

im in love… Marie Antoinette finished

Some "real" pics finally. They still just don't show how sparkley it is. All I have left to do is finish attaching the hook & eyes along the front (finished them once, but switching them out to black), and to finish my wig, which is giving me fits right now because I'm not sure what exactly I want to do anymore.

Lady Blackhawk is done!

It's a crappy pic, sorry LOL I got my patch blanks earlier this week, and got the hawks embroidered last night, and sewed the patches on this morning. I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out; they're not perfect, especially since I realised about halfway through the first one that I'd reversed the symbol when I drew on my guide. I was too happy with the way it was turning ...

Making my Marie Antoinette Wig

(I've edited this post since finishing the wig so I have the full build process in one post!) So here's my fumbling around with wigs. I really hate styling wigs - I wish I'd had it in my budget to buy a really fantastic custom piece off etsy or something, but, well, obviously I didn't! So here's what I did. This is the wig I started out with. A cheap $20 ...

some pics

Finally uploaded some pics from my phone. Here's the dress as it was last week, I think it was: I had the lower sleeves and stomacher just pinned on there - I've since gotten them sewn in and, well, it's pretty much done. Once I try it on I might find something that needs to be tweaked, so I'm calling it 99% at this point. I'll put it back on the ...

Lots of Updates, Still no Pics

I need to break out the real camera and take some pics to post. My blog is awful bland with no pics. I've been working on "Pink Barf" - got the suit picked apart and cut the legs off. Got new front pieces cut. I had to go back and re-dye them because the chunk of leftover material I dyed didn't get in there long enough. I finished my shoes, ...

Rogue Pink Suit & Emma Frost Updates

This post isn't going to be very interesting, because it's about 2 of my surprise costumes. We'll refer to them as "Pink Barf" and "Fur Monster." I started on "Pink Barf" about two weeks ago and initially made great progress. I didn't care for the shade of pink of my fabric though, even though it's what i picked out from my swatches I got. But once I saw it on with ...

that moment…

that moment you get your costume to the point of finally trying it on. isn't it fantastic? Sorry I haven't posted in a few days; been busy at work and busy sewing every night. Over the week I've finished the beading on Marie (although I have a handful of beads leftover I may go back and toss on), finished the stomacher and both sleeve flounces, and also worked on one ...

FOOT! Follow Up

Went in for my post-op appt this morning. He took all the bandages off (YAY! Felt amazing to finally get all that stuff off.) and looked it over. Said it looked great, I don't need to come back in. Just put peroxide on it everyday, keep a bandaid on it, keep taking my medicine. He said it should be back to normal in about 3 weeks. It's still pretty sore. I ...
