Rogue Pink Suit & Emma Frost Updates

This post isn’t going to be very interesting, because it’s about 2 of my surprise costumes. We’ll refer to them as “Pink Barf” and “Fur Monster.”
I started on “Pink Barf” about two weeks ago and initially made great progress. I didn’t care for the shade of pink of my fabric though, even though it’s what i picked out from my swatches I got. But once I saw it on with the rest of the fabric it just looked blah. So saturday night I worked up the courage to take it apart and dye it. It actually turned out pretty well, much to my surprise, and the colour is SO much better and more accurate. So last night I started putting it back together, trucking right along. Got to the point I could try it on, and it’s seriously a crotch nightmare. I used that dumb Kwiksew pattern I used for Donna last year and swore I’d never use again because the crotch looks so terrible (of course I forgot all about that.) I think the only way I can fix this issue is to take all the extra parts off again, cut the legs off, cut a new front piece so I don’t have a front seam, and reattach the legs. I’ll have to use the old front piece I take off as scrap to re-cover my boots, because I don’t have a lot of fabric left. But it’s all I can think of to make it fit correctly through there.
(I really hate to take it all apart AGAIN, but otherwise I’m not going to want to wear this.)

So “Fur Monster” was a late addition to my list of costumes – decided to do it a few weeks ago. I pretty much knocked it all out yesterday. Got the dress put together, got the boots made. All I have left to do is buy my cape fabric (waiting on a coupon), make a belt, handsew a few things in place and attach my boot covers to some tights. Of course it earned its name because a huge part of it is made of fur. So I got fur alllll over my office, it’s everywhere, even made its way out into our bedroom. I had a lot of it leftover, though – new blanket for Indy later this year 🙂
