Didn't get to do a lot on the Donna stuff over the weekend, so finally got to jump in again last night. I started doing some of the light purple points. Got all but one done on one side - didn't feel like rethreading because I wanted to go to bed LOL The interior of my new car gets HOT! The bug would get hot but the rubberized steering wheel ...
This weekend was crazy... ! Saturday was not only Memphis Comic Expo - but moving day for my grandma. The plan was for myself, Chase and Kevin to head up to the convention and the movers/the rest of the family would do the moving. But we ended up heading over that way to help after a couple of hours. And then Sunday was allll day going through her house, packing ...
More beading progress from last night: I got the base of the "spikes" on either side done, the rest of them I'll do by hand. More general beading, too. Monkeyed around with the top line parts a little, too. FABRIC! My spandex order came! My Captain Marvel fabric! I'm actually doing it!!!!! I was going to do it 2 years ago, had the costume breakdown in my head and bookmarked fabric ...
Discovered rifftrax was on hulu last night so I got a good bit done. Unfortunately, those straight line stitches at the top I wanted to take out? Half-way through removing the first one I realized it was damaging the fabric. UGH! So I stopped and left what was there and just went over the top of it with my embroidery floss. It's not going to look great, but at this ...
I never did come back with a picture of the wig because I forgot to take one. So I took one this morning. I need to brush the wig out really well. It has been manhandled a lot recently so I need to get it looking nice again. I'll probably rebraid the front, too, and I'm going to find some kind of ribbon or trim to glue around the base ...
Breaking today's post up into 2 posts because my car post got a little long. I got a decent amount of work done this weekend! First off, on Friday, I had the sudden realization that I had my dates for Memphis Comic Expo mixed up. I thought I had 2 weeks to finish my costume. Turns out it's NEXT weekend. Yikes! In all my years of going to cons I have NEVER ...
So, with all of the craziness of this week (I had to go pick jury duty dates yesterday morning. SO LOVELY after having my grandfather's funeral the day before. F jury duty.) I ended up making some decisions about my projects for this summer. I'm pretty sure both of the big projects are out the door. The Georgian dress is still on the edges of my mind, and if my ...
Since I'm done with Janet Snakehole, I went back to work on the Aelsa costume! I picked up some stretch satin last weekend and got my gloves made this week. I did some decorative embroidery stitch from one of the sewing machines along the front part, and some beading along the front edge. I just need to add the finger loop. I'm debating on dyeing them. They should be like ...
I finished the dress!! That's one DragonCon costume down! Of course I STILL have not decided what all I'm making this year. I'm not totally feeling the two "big" costumes I was thinking of choosing between. Sigh. More on that later. I think my neck/collar ended up sitting a little lower than the real thing, but I think it's cute - and for a quickly made costume out of ...
