Suit Upgrades:
Basically I just took my Super Sailor Jupiter costume from 2000 and added parts. I took my original pink bow off the back and attached the ribbons around the waist and added the long streamers to the back. They are just hand-sewn in places on the suit so the suit can still stretch as I put it on. I couldn’t find a light green ribbon to match my fabric, so it had to be made from the green fabric – ended up making too much and didn’t want to waste it, so I did four light green streamers in the back instead of two. I added the second skirt underneath the green one – I took my original green one off and used it as a pattern to make the second, light green one. I really like how it came out. The sleeves I made and attached over the original Super ones – having the organza “Super”-style sleeves inside the green sleeve caps helps give it some body. I couldn’t find any of the original green fabric I used, so I had to get some close to do the darker green trim at the bottom.
Accessories Upgrades
I made a new brooch for the center bow, and I added ribbons to the gloves. I made new star earrings, as well, though after the first con I went back to the rose earrings because I just feel like those are more Jupiter.
Boots:
I bought the boots online and added the green ribbon and yellow stars. I lost the stars on the boots after the first time I wore it and never replaced them, though.
History:
I wore this a LOT! I did finally retired it after a few years, but recently I did a photoshoot with it in 2013 – I can’t believe it’s held up as well as it has for so long, so it’s still wearable in case I want to wear it to a con again!
As of 2025, the costume itself is still in good shape, but the white pleather boots died in 2020 and had to be tossed. RIP!
