Yall Picard season 3 is SO DANG GOOD
I don’t care if it’s fan service. It the perfect kind of reunion nostalgia we should have gotten with the Star Wars sequel movies and now we can never have because Carrie is gone 🙁

Anyway. last week I worked on the Nadja mock-up:

I felt like the sleeve and upper bodice looked good, but the skirt wasn’t quite there. Not the right silhouette. I was out of the striped fabric at that point, so I switched to just basic scrap lining fabric to try to get the silhouette right. Took the first mock-up apart and made pattern pieces then used those for mock-up skirt #2:

Shape-wise, this is looking much better. It’s not quite done – it was too big through the waist so it’s just pinned up, I want to go ahead and fully take it up and then do the bubble hem just to make sure it does look right.

But the wind got taken out of my sails Saturday. My second swatch from spoonflower arrived. I accidentally ordered a fat quarter instead of a swatch, which I noticed after I placed the order but figured oh well I could use it for a smaller segment right?

Well the new “swatch” arrived and I was mega disappointed. The changes I made between swatch 1 and swatch 2 were the stripe opacity and stripe size. The stripes were too big in swatch 1 so I made them smaller.

Yet for some reason the stripes in swatch 2 are BIGGER than swatch 1?? (the smaller swatch one is swatch 1, bigger swatch is swatch 2)

I was working off the same file so it’s not like i changed resolutions. Just made the stripes smaller, changed the stripe opacity and reuploaded the new file. It’s definitely the new file because the opacity change is there. I even screenshot order 1 and order 2 to make sure I set order 2 up the same way – same repeat and both set to “smaller” so I’m not sure how the new one ended up with bigger stripes. I emailed spoonflower customer support so hopefully somebody there can just tell me what I did wrong so I don’t have to keep spending money and time on more swatches.

I got everything ready for Huntsville. Fixed a broken snap on the cuff of Padme, made Chase try Bail on, everything seems good to go. I hope the rain chances for that weekend diminish.

Saturday morning we had a yard sale. Was it successful? Yes and no. Cath and her mom brought a lot of stuff over to sell too, and they made about $160, not bad. We only made about $40. Not sure it was worth the effort. But we didn’t have near as much stuff out as Cath did. And after we were done, we loaded it ALL up and took it to donate. So glad to have it gone.

2 Funny stories though – we had our lawn chairs out behind the tables to sit in, and at one point Chase and I were in the garage and a woman came up and looked at one of our chairs. Our really nice camping chair. It had apparently gotten an $8 sticker stuck to it so she thought it was for sale and wanted to buy it. Chase actually sold it to her for $8. So I feel like all the money we made has to now go to replacing the chair LMAO

And at one point our mailman came around. I walked out to get the mail from him since the mailbox was blocked. But he got out and said “if anybody asks I’m delivering your mail” and then he shopped for a bit LOL Bought a few things and came back and got them later when he was off. Too funny.

Anyway we were exhausted after all that and took a nap. Then got up, got cleaned up and headed to dinner for my mom’s bday!

YUM. this was so good!

Came home and I recorded a few videos… until the hail started. Big rainstorm moved through and it was hailing like mad. I think you can hear it in the last video I did.

So since I felt stuck on Nadja, Sunday I moved to rebels Leia.
And amazingly I actually got a good bit done.

Started out by making a basic shirt using the scrap knit from my Endor Leia pants from 2007 LOL I drew my guidelines on, then cut that up to make a pattern.

Then I did a mock-up just to check.

This is what was left of the Endor Leia fabric for the blue, and some scrap jetset from ANH Leia for the white.

Ignore my house leggings, but fits me better than that particular dressform. It’s a few inches too long, but I’m still trying to decide if I want to line it or just fold that bottom section up.

But I was happy with this mock-up so onto the real fabric.

What did I decided to do for the white? It’s the scuba layered underneath the stretch suede. I basted the 2 layers together first before starting to assemble.

I got the front and back both assembled – but not happy with the way the bottom curve section turned out, so I started undoing that section last night and will fix it tonight. I’m really hoping I can be done with the shirt this week? That would be great, then I could probably knock the rest out next week and might actually have time for Breha this summer?

In other news, we finally cleaned up my grand grandmother’s dining room table and brought it in. We still need to find the extension piece that goes in the middle, and I still don’t like the look of the laminate top. I got a table cloth at target Sunday to at least hide the laminate – I meant to iron it last night while I had the iron on sewing and forgot – but it’s nice to have a real table in there.

I think that’s it for this week. Next week I’ll have a convention report yay! I’ve been trying to think of the last time Chase and I did an out of town con that wasn’t Dragoncon and it was just the 2 of us. I just looked. Emerald City comic Con 2011. Geez. Not that I don’t love taking Kevin or going with friends but it’ll be nice to have a chill con weekend (aka not dragoncon) just the two of us.

My goals this week:
Finish Rebels Leia shirt
start on pants
figure out spoonflower problem
