welcome to 43

I guess this means I’m entering year 25 of blogging. I started when I was 18, before the word “blogging” was even around. i called it “free talk” at the beginning.

Anyway not much to post this week – again – except birthday stuff.

Didn’t do much on my birthday. Chase had his dates off and thought my birthday wasn’t til the weekend so I just waited to see how long he would go before he realized LOL It didn’t take long. We went to the mall that night in search of new boots – all of my boots are starting to peel and crack – but no luck. Everything has reverted back to the late 90s/early 2000s giant chunky heel on boots and that’s not what I want.

Went to the book store and picked this up:

Ready for vacation in a couple of weeks so I can sit around and read for a few days.

Got a decent bloom on the rose bush:

Friday we went to Molly’s with the fam for my bday dinner:

Then Saturday was Memphis Comic Expo! I decided to wear Bespin Leia.

I found a $400 Bespin Leia action figure.

We took a little break for lunch, went over to the farmers market to pick up a few things, and had planned to go back after dropping stuff off at the house and eating, but I had a migraine come on. I should’ve known better, I’d had a migraine come up in the days before with the weather changing and I should’ve gone ahead and taken an imitex as a preventative that morning and I forgot. Having a bunch of bobbie pins jabbing me in the head for a few hours probably didn’t help either.

So I took my hair down, took some medicine and took a nap. Felt much better after that but by that point it was late in the day so we didn’t go back. Instead we went BACK to mid-town for dinner at Kwik Check because we both really wanted it after being across the street at Molly’s the night before LOL Then Chase wanted dessert… so we went to Cheesecake Factory just for dessert LOL

Sunday was a little bit of a lost day. I had planned to do a little bit more prep work on the Leia wedding dress but didn’t do anything at all. Cleaned the house up that morning, got the rest of the halloween stuff out and decorated. Was eating lunch when mom asked if we were coming dad’s show — I had wanted to go next time they played that venue so we decided to go. We went to that, ate dinner there, and then randomly decided to go see Don’t Worry Darling. Which I really enjoyed.

Anyway in terms of wedding Leia progress, i did do a bit last week. I REALLY waffled on what pattern I wanted to use as a base. I think I pulled like 4 or 5 things out. The pattern I WANTED to use was just too big and wide — the silk curtain panels I’m using for the base of the dress just weren’t big enough to handle it without losing a lot of width. So I switched to a smaller more fitted pattern, which overall works better because it has princess seams to the floor which will make it easier to do the slits in the lower front seams.

Friday I got those curtain panels dyed.

This actually looks better in this photo than it does in real life. I wanted a SUPER light green so it wouldn’t fight with my embroidered panel – and plus the layering of the green chiffon over the top. So I wanted to start with a VERY light base because I can go up from there if I need to. But I ended up a little too bright/spring green in my eyes – but like I said in this photo it’s looking a little less saturated and I like that a lot better. I need to iron these tonight.

I did decided on dyeing my own silk chiffon for the outer most layer. I ordered it last week with birthday money. Will be arriving this week. Hopefully I can get it dyed next weekend and get started for real.
