now dont close your eyes and dont try to hide

Fall is finally here, I’m bundled up in the baja sweater I got in arkansas, sweatpants, house shoes and a big blanket today. It’s a bone-chilling 57 degrees out right now LOL.

Speaking of the baja sweater, I have realized I am slowly falling back into my 1995 fashion of over-sized XL fandom tshirts, hoodies and baja sweaters. If I start adding in giant bell bottoms again, someone stop me.

I’ve spent the last week mostly focusing on Frankie’s halloween costume. I’ve had a few set-backs.

First these lace-up panels I made did not work. I spent about 2 hours making these and another hour trying to get them sewn onto the front panel with no luck. It’s because the entire inside is no-sew permanent double stick tape to anchor the rings. I finally had to give up on these and make new ones with less tape so i could sew it onto the bodice. What a delay!

But as of last night I did get the new ones sewn on, and the outer layer basted to the strength layer.

I had wanted to be totally done with this this past weekend but that obviously didn’t happen.

So I’m really going to dig in tonight now that i’ve gotten past the worst of the bodice assembly.
To-do List:
-Finish assembling skirt (all seams done except one – I ran out of thread that night LOL)
-Get skirt pleated, attach to waistband
-Sew bodice lining layer together
-attach lining to bodice
-finish back edge of bodice/set in eyelets
-make modesty panel/attach
-assemble sleeves (they’re cut)
-hem everything
-attach lace trim

If I can just do at least 3 of these every night I can be done by the end of this week. I could go fast if I could rope Chase in as assistant… LOL Or at least cat wrangler.

I mention cat wrangler because Luna is currently living in my sewing room. Why is that? Because:

Skye is here! My parents are at the beach.

Skye is basically living downstairs and Luna upstairs.

Everything is pretty calmed down at the moment but we got off to a bad start. When Skye was younger, it was like Luna didn’t exist. Luna could be standing right in front of her and Skye wouldn’t care. Now last time Skye stayed over, she finally took notice and tried to go up the stairs after her, but I had the stairs blocked.

So before mom dropped her off, I had set up baby gates, blocked off the laundry room (the laundry room connects to my sewing room, and that’s where Luna’s litter box and food are, so I’m able to close the laundry room door and my sewing room door and Luna’s got her own little world). I don’t normally like, MAKE Luna go upstairs, because usually as soon as there’s any commotion she will go on her own.

Well when Skye got here on Thursday, she saw Luna sitting on the stairs and took off after her. No problem becausE I had set up baby gates right? Well I had moved the baby gate off the stairs while setting everything up and forgotten to put it back. So Skye and Luna tore up the stairs, through my sewing room, through the laundry room, back into the kitchen, and finally Skye cornered Luna in the living room and that’s where I caught up to them and was able to pull Skye away… as Skye peed all over the rug. Luna ran off into the dining room and hid behind a chair, where Skye again found her later (though Luna was out of reach). It took a while but I finally got Luna upstairs, she ran into Kevin’s room and under his bed. So I took her food and water up there and figured once she was feeling less freaked out I’d lure her to my sewing room. Unfortunately because she was so freaked out, she was too scared to walk down the upstairs hallway, through my sewing room and to her litter box, and she peed in kevin’s room. UGH. But weirdly Friday night it was like she was over it and was going to stand her ground. She was venturing down into the entry way even though skye was right there behind a baby gate. She even slept downstairs. So Saturday morning I was able to get her into the laundry room by putting her breakfast in there. So now she’s safely closed off in the laundry/sewing room section of the house. Though I can tell she wants out.

I set up 2 hoopskirts so she had plenty of hiding spaces LOL

I also opened up the laundry room window and my sewing room window whenever I was working in there so she could enjoy outside smells and sounds.

Here she is intently smelling the air of the open laundry room window LOL

Saturday I didn’t get much done, it ended up being a busy day. I rode up to Jackson with Nana and Kristie to see Mema for her birthday.

Catty bob hissed at me! I thought we were cool, man. But it’s because I leaned over him to hug Daddy Bob, LOL.

Then i had to run out to my parents’ house, and then Chase and I went out to dinner for the first time in ages. We went to Cooper Young, had dinner at Celtic Crossing (we were both craving fish and chips), went to the book store, then went and got cookies. It was a fun night.

Sunday Chase focused on a project for Halloween decorations:

I’ve been wanting to do this for months and now that we finally started on it I’m too busy to help LOL That’s why I’m really trying to focus on getting the costume finished so I can help with the tombstones. I don’t want them to only be in the yard for a day or two before going in storage for a year.

I’ve also got to get my halloween costumes out and ready to go.
Planning to wear Amidala to an event 10/28 — first trooping event since 2019!! I’m hoping to have time to make a white mask and paint the amidala make-up on.
Then Tightrope Walker for the disney exhibit that weekend.
And then whatever I’m going to wear to hand out candy? I wore Sarah Sanderson in 2019, didn’t dress up last year (just put a candy bowl out). I like it to be something I can easily sit in and also recognizable. So I’m kinda thinking Leia is obviously easy, or maybe Wanda would be recognizable enough? Also kinda thought about Crusher but wouldn’t really say that’s recognizable to kids. I think it may end up being Wanda just because I’m still very much in love with that costume LOL.
