tired

man im so tired.

As I think I said last week my motivation to do anything has just evaporated into thin air. I’ve been trying to make myself work on ceremonial Leia without much success.

My greatest achievement in the past week is that my Animal Crossing island got to 5 stars. I dunno how because last week I decided to totally dig up and renovate the entire front of my island. I had stuff strewn everywhere as I moved things around. I was running around one of the upper elevations when I spotted a lily of the valley and I was like… hold up. So I ran to Isabelle and asked, and

She’s been telling me for WEEKS I need more decorations. I guess the 2 benches and the 2 additional street lamps I put up in the new town square did it. But I was like seriously… why now when my island looks like crap?? LOL

The other day I decided my flowers were just too much of a mess. I started moving ALL of the loose flowers to the beach… that is, any flower I didn’t have specifically planted in a garden section. So all of upper elevations, and the “fields” where I was letting them breed hybrids got moved. And it covered the entire beach. I ran out of room. But now that I’ve moved them all I’m going to start putting them back in an organized manner… I’ve got them all colour-sorted on the beach, so when I start putting them back out, it’ll be easy to go grab what I’m looking for.

House stuff…. I did finish painting the bathroom this past weekend!

Really happy with the colour. I did take this pic with flash and it auto-corrected the white balance… that one light in there is SUPER dim and yellow and looked gross. I looked for a new light when we were at Lowe’s this weekend and picked out some options so I think we’ll get something this weekend to replace it.

Monday we got my new mirror hung up!!

OMG I can actually SEE MYSELF when I’m doing my makeup now.

So I think I mentioned we were planning on doing this bathroom Hogwarts themed. Hang up some of our HP stuff in the walls, HP shower curtain, was thinking about getting the Mirror of Erised at target, etc. BUT… a huge part of the reason I picked Harry Potter for it was that A) Kevin would like it, since that’s his bathroom when he’s here, and B) It would be easy to find stuff to put in there.

Surprisingly enough it has NOT been easy to find stuff to put in there. I was trying to go for Hogwarts themed, ie, it looked like it could be a bathroom in Hogwarts. Not “Harry Potter” themed with glasses and lightning scars everywhere. And most of what I was finding fell into the second category. I’ve looked at so many shower curtains. And the only ones that “fit” I didn’t like.

So a few months ago I’d kinda thought about changing it to Lord of the Rings themed. But kinda pushed it aside because A) Kevin loves Harry Potter and B) I thought it would be easier to find HP stuff than LOTR stuff. But as soon as I started looking for LOTR stuff I found SO much I liked that was so much nicer looking than HP stuff. And Kevin likes LOTR too. So I was torn and asked my friends. It was 5 to 2 in favor of LOTR.

We decided what we’d do is mostly do LOTR but also put a few HP things in there, too. Like we have the nice Marauder’s Map we wanted to get framed. I was thinking that and maybe a map of middle earth together. It can be the british book bathroom.

Anyway, that was a tangent.
So next I need to pick out new covers for the vents, switches and outlets, decide what I want to do about a medicine cabinet, pick out a shower curtain, paint the trim and cabinet, get my corner shelves up… and then I can start accessorizing with art and stuff.

Costumes…

Current state of ceremonial Leia:

Well actually that’s from last week but it doesn’t look much different today. I haven’t done anything to the sleeves yet. I decided to dump my bodice pattern and use Jen Eyre’s so the sleeves would fit it correctly. I’ve been getting it fitted and I was hoping to be done with that last night, but I did nothing last night. I need to order more fabric; I blew through the 8yd bolt pretty quickly. I’ve still got about 2 yards left but that’s not enough for the skirt panels. I have a 3 yard cut in my stash that was meant for my disneybound Leia, and was planning on using that – but I dont think that’ll be enough, so I’m just going to save it and order another bolt. That should give me enough to work with.

I posted on patreon a list of the things I’ve been working on the last 3 months. I think I’m just going to bring it over here and do a bit of a round-up.

1. The Poe Dameron comic Leia costume
This is DONE except finding shoes. Going to shoot this next time we do a white backdrop shoot.

I did a dressing video of it for tiktok this past weekend, haven’t posted it yet, but since I still had my lake dress out I picked it up for a quick shot. When I decide on shoes it needs to be something with a heel – I wore some flats for this and it makes me too short. I hemmed this for heels.

2. Padme Veranda Nightgown
This is done except for getting a new wig and putting a pin back on the brooch. I ordered a wig for it last week so I could shoot it soon and the day it was supposed to be delivered, the tracking said “Delivered – handed directly to resident.” WTF nobody gave me anything. So got on amazon and they said the tracking was actually wrong it was still out for delivery… but for some reason immediately gave me a refund and said keep the wig when it shows up? Weird. Well it never showed up but I did get my refund so I bought another one that’s supposed to be here today. So maybe in a couple of weekends I can do the white backdrop shoot and get caught up on things I need to photograph.

3. Dapper Day Chip and Dale
This is still in the same state it was last time I posted it. No rush finishing it, right? Chase’s Chip jacket is cut but I haven’t done anything with it.

4. Dapper Day Black Widow
Same here. I set it aside to think about how I wanted to position that symbol on it and haven’t thought about it since. Again, there’s no rush, not going to Disney until November and even that’s questionable.

5. Disneybound Leia
Same here. I still need to fix the waistband and put closures on the jacket. And I haven’t touched the romper (that’s what the 3 yards I have in my stash is for). I think maybe I’m hoping I’ll lose weight before November and look better in a romper LOL.

6. Marasiah Fel re-do
This is also done except for the brooch Chase is 3d sculpting for me. But I may go ahead and shoot it as-is if he’s not done with it by the time we get around to doing a white backdrop shoot. It’d be so nice to finally have good pics of this.

7. Ceremonial Leia
Already talked about this

8. Padme & Bail
I thought the purple velvet for my Padme costume would be easiest to track down but it is NOT. From the fiasco of the wrong swatch being sent to me and getting velvet that didn’t match a swatch to just NOT GETTING MY SWATCHES AT ALL. (I ordered 3 swatches from one company. Never got an email confirmation, never got swatches, but they also never charged me, so there’s that), to taking a MONTH to get the swatch. That one finally showed up and it was dark enough but too violet. So I’ve got another swatch coming, this fabric is more expensive than I would like it to be but I’m at the end of my rope and just want something that works without dyeing anything. I’m already going to have to dye Chase’s Bail velvet. Gotta do that soon too.

9. 2 Star Trek projects
I haven’t done anything with Jean’s 2 Star Trek projects since posting them here. My revised pattern for the TOS dress is ready to go. I sent the TNG skant front panel off to her to try on and it looks like it’s going to fit good! I got it back and I’m going to AIM to pretty much finish it this weekend. Fingers crossed.

So that’s it. I had a list of like 5 other projects I wanted to do for dragoncon but that’s all been de-railed. We are still considering going to the Huntsville Con in July, just kinda waiting to see how June plays out… but if Dragoncon doesn’t cancel I just dunno man. I’d be up for going for Chase is not up for me going.

Anyway.

I also did a dressing video of Quistis this weekend LMAO. I only checked to make sure everything was there before putting it on. Thank goodness everything is stretchy so I could still get into! This costume is now old enough to legally vote. LMAO.

This my baby and aint nobody fixin to touch her!!

Our neighbor’s dog came over and said hello through my porch door the other day. SOOO CUTE.

So, in the interest of motivating myself, plans for the rest of this week/this weekend:
1. Order more fabric for ceremonial leia
2. finish getting top fitted
3. Work on Star Trek uniform for Jean, hopefully finish??
4. Start working my way back through unfinished projects and finish them. Finish my Disney stuff maybe? None of that would take long. It’s all just stuff I’m avoiding. But would be nice to have it off the list.

I leave you with this pic of me and Judy enjoying beach flowers.
