How do I even start this post off? Ugh. I mentioned in my last post that Chase’s mom was improving, but on Tuesday she passed. It was a shock because she’d been so much better. Can the universe please just give us a break?
Yesterday we made arrangements to fly up for her Celebration of Life in a few weeks. So just… processing that and everything has taken up the last week.
That being said, I didn’t want to just sit on the couch and wallow so I actually ended up digging into Belle again. Finally! I got the pattern I wanted to use out and decided I didn’t really like it and instead went and bought the JP Ryan version and it should be here this week. I tried to dye my cotton for the main part of the dress and it turned out awful. BOO. None of the green dyes I had (3 of them!!) were right. They were all too blue-toned green and I needed yellow-toned green. I tried to correct with the yellow dye I had on hand and it didn’t swing the colour far enough. And the colour just ended up being kind of a murky green and I had some streaks and spots on it and overall I was just upset with myself for jumping into it and trying to make it work instead of going and buying new dye.
So I think I am going to try to put it in some colour remover and see what happens. It’s a lot of fabric to get into colour remover tho. I’m also going to just start shopping for a green cotton that looks right. So that I have options.
Of course I have pics of none of this because it was all just a whole lot of nothing. I did make this Monday night tho:
For my Raid Area 51 birthday party. I’m going to be Mothman. I still have to attach the elastic for the cape/wings and finish my headband. Will do that this week.
Got this mini Illuminations torch last week too. It’s so cute!
Cleaned up my sewing room yesterday and finally took the time to go through some old patterns Ash’s mom gave me. Lots of fun 80s stuff. Including some SUPER vintage Hancock Fabric bags that had to be mid-80s. And I found Barb!
Saturday we ran a bunch of errands including checking out the new Container Store! We finally have a Container Store! And Target and a few other places, I wanted this at Target.
Finally for some reason I was on petfinder the other night and I SAW THIS DOG
OMG. She seemed to be part of a liter that was all Star Wars names, Leia, Rose, Chewy and Amidala. That rescue is speaking my love language.
So that’s all I got for now. Birthday is this weekend, taking my birthday off to get the house ready and decorated. And to sleep in. Whoohoo.
