So yesterday morning was a little weird.
I was on the ramp getting off the interstate on my way work, sitting in a line at the light waiting to turn left. I heard an ambulance siren…. look around try to see where it’s coming from. Turned out it was coming up the ramp behind me, but I was 2nd in a line of cars so there was nowhere to go. But the ambulance goes right, makes a loop and takes off to the left.
Of course, I was curious where it was going but it was long gone by the time the light turns green.
A couple minutes later I pulled into my office… and the ambulance is in the back parking lot!
This is weird because I am the first one to get to the office everyday. Nobody else should be here yet.
So I got out of my car looking confused and they pulled the ambulance up to the front door and hopped out. One of the EMTs asked me if anyone called in a medical emergency here. I said not that I know, nobody should even be here.
They asked if the door is unlocked, so I checked it – it’s locked as it should be (they had already checked the back). I unlocked it and we walked through the building (it’s not a big building) checking the other offices’ interior doors – all locked. Not a sole in the building.
The EMT said the call came from a medical alert band and said the address that came through was some company name I didn’t recognize (we share the building with 3 other small companies), with the correct street address. I told them the company name wasn’t familiar to me. He asked if the building next door was the same address – I said I didn’t think so, but I wasn’t sure of that or the name of the company next door. So they hopped in back in the ambulance and went next door to check.
It was super weird. I hope they found whoever needed them… just weird because it was 7AM, the 3 office buildings around here were empty and the only residential places nearby were far enough down the road I wouldn’t think there’d be a GPS mixup… but who knows.

I tried everything on Monday night, and I’m pretty happy with it all.
After I took these pics, I unnpinned the collar and moved the edge of the hood forward a little bit on each side. Then I went ahead and machine-sewed them into place on the outside layer.
I still need to trim the collar down a little bit, get it sewn on. I think I may have to shorten it length-wise a little bit too? Going to look at it tonight. To finish it, I think I’m going to machine sew it to the front layer, and then slip-stitch the lining layer closed onto the backside of it.
I need to see if I have any of the right kind of hook and eyes. They aren’t what I usually use – but I think I may have had some in my grandma’s sewing stash I inherited. If not I’ll get some this weekend — going to Tandy Saturday for leather for the new belt.

It’s sitting ok. Not perfect. I think if I press it again it will be ok.
I have an event Saturday night, I’m pretty sure I could be done with it by then…. but I think I’m going to save it. I think I want to wait and debut the new dress when I at least have the new belt done. So that’ll probably be next year I’m thinking. We’ll see.
