Photoshoot Stuff!! Part One

Sorry I haven’t posted this week! It’s been busy!

This past weekend we did the symphony event — which I’ll talk about the next post — and we’d originally planned to do this photoshoot before we left for the event Saturday night. But my tiara wasn’t quite ready Saturday, and there was yardwork that needed to be done before the storms set in on Sunday. So we moved the photoshoot to Sunday since we’d be staying in.

I guess that’s kind of a pointless story… but I told it to say, I had to get into Amidala two days in a row and it was a pain.

We shot 5 costumes — Dolores, End of Empire Leia, Bespin Leia, Tightrope Walker, and Amidala. Right now I have 3 of those uploaded! So to start…

I really, really should’ve restyled this wig before the shoot. I thought it still looked ok from VisionCon but it was kind of a mess and of course I didn’t get it out of the box until I was already dressed and ready to shoot.

I need to take it down, de-tangle it, trim the curls in the front down (they’ve always been too big), and just pull it back whenever I put it on, instead of trying to leave it styled.

I just don’t like how the wig looks in any of the photos, it’s making me to want to redo this shoot next time 🙁 It’s all lumpy and weird looking and lots of flyaways.

But it looks ok here, where the top of my head is cut off LMAO

Next, since I was already putting my hair up in a bun and had my makeup done for Leia already, I decided to do a few quick shots of “End of Empire Strikes Back” Leia.

Just one that I’ve “had” but have never shot.
Oh and something reminded me of this the other day… you know the Hildebrandt Star Wars poster, where Leia is kneeling in front of Luke and the dress she has on is this sleeveless number with a cape?
Sometime in like 2006 or 2007 I made that dang costume. It was like totally done except for attaching the cape and making a belt. But I decided I didn’t like the fabric I made it out of it and set it aside. And it disappeared. I haven’t seen it since. It’s probably either stuck in a bag of random fabric at my parent’s house (there’s several), or it got tossed. Dunno where it went. I’d totally forgotten about it.

Anyway.

We shot the Tightrope Walker which was fun and I really like how it turned out — I think this is the difference between shooting a costume I’ve had time to wear a few times and tweak (redid parts of Tightrope Walker between Dcon and Halloween), vs a costume I’ve only worn a couple of times and haven’t gotten to revisit (Dolores). I need to stop jumping in and shooting a brand new costume right off the bat and give it time to get refined, but I just get excited about getting them done on the backdrop.

From the back

So that’s it for now. I haven’t gone through Bespin or Amidala yet, and it may not be til this weekend… busy every night the rest of this week!
Not doing anything for May the 4th tomorrow, except a friend of mine has an event at the library, speaking about being an author! So I’m going with her to that.
Friday there’s a Revenge of the 5th event at the same library… haven’t decided if I’m going to go or not. If I do I may wear something easy like Ewok Leia that isn’t a pain to drive in, and doesn’t require a lot of hair work. But it’ll depend on whether or not we’re going to see Guardians of the Galaxy that night. So yeah I dunno.
