to-do

I finished my pants last night!!! Like I said last time I’d done the mock-up Saturday so I had a good idea of what I was doing, got the pieces cut out that night but then spent all day Sunday on the tunic. So when I got home from work yesterday I jumped into the pants… haha, jumped into the pants.

I used Simplicity 1165 which was really straight-forward and the only changes I made was to widen the width at the ankle just a tiny, tiny bit, gather the hem and make cuffs.

This pattern had pockets!! So I will actually have pockets in this costume! I probably won’t carry my phone in there or anything but I can at least carry my own ID and stuff without Chase having to do it. The only thing I DIDN’T like about the pattern was the waistband. I put it on upside down the first time (dumb) and had to unpick it and resew it on right. So that’s a personal problem. Second the pattern calls for 1/4in wide elastic which I think was a little too small. I used it but I think 1/2in would have worked much better.

But it’s done and I’m not going to keep nit-picking at it.

I’m super relieved to have them done, I had kinda budgeted 2-3 nights in my head to do them.

So my to-do list now:
-Sew trim on top
-Redye shoes?? They look like they need another layer of red to match the fabric better
-Go to Tandy, get leather for belt
-cut belt shape out, cover in fabric, add closures (snaps?)
-get cape cut down to size, lining sewn in
-figure out collar pattern
-get collar made !!
-sew trim on

The collar is my biggest hurdle at this point. I need to get the cape cut down so I can get it properly pinned onto the dressform and get my shape figured out for sure. But I’m so scared to cut it!!!
