go, and never darken my towels again

I’m breaking this up into sections so I don’t forget everything I need to talk about because my brain is fried.

1. Art
I’ve done a few more in my little Star Wars project since last week.

Here’s Kylo Ren:

whatever

Here’s Lando:

meh not happy with how his clothes turned out.

Heres Ahsoka:

Pretty happy with her! I started out with a much different sketch – more of a static, standing pose, and I decided it just wasn’t her and she needed something a little more dynamic. So I started over and I’m glad I did.

And in-progress, here’s Qui-Gon:

Just the linework done obviously but I should have him done early next week.

Then I need to do another Rogue One character (Chase said Baze next) … then probably Chewbacca, and then Hux maybe? Then back around to the prequels, possibly Darth Maul. I guess I have to do Yoda at some point too.

2. Bespin Leia
Yesterday I made the decision that the poly chiffon I had set aside for the lining of the cape wasn’t going to cut it. It’s too opaque and the colour is slightly not right. Which means that now I officially am not using ANY of my original fabric……. boo.
But I ordered new fabric today… yay! But I have to dye it… boo.

Anyway, embroidery update:

I didn’t bother to lay it out very nicely, just kinda threw it on the bedroom floor so ignore the extension cord running underneath it.

This weekend my goal is to get the center and front spires mostly finished — everything except the shadow sitching. The front panel just needs all the Xs done. The center back has the shadow-stitched petals on the top flowers, and about… oh I’d say 30% of the petals left to do so that one is already close.
I’d LIKE to get more than that done but playing it safe. Ideally finish up the Xs on the center back tonight — petals in the morning — front panel Xs tomorrow afternoon/evening. Then maybe Sunday focus on side panels again? Ideally.

So at this point all I still need to buy is the metallic trim, and my shoes. I guess I should buy the shoes before I dye the lining so I can do them together…

3. Celebration/Disney
Been focusing on this a little this week — gave Kevin’s mom a schedule, etc. We are a go for Universal yay! I still haven’t bought our tickets for anything which means I haven’t been able to book fastpasses – oh well.
Dining stuff – Biergarten (thought Kevin would enjoy), Rose & Crown (why not), Beaches and Cream (Yaaaaas), and the new Trattoria al Forno character breakfast with Rapunzel, Flynn, Ariel and Eric!! 😀 Yay!

Saturday we’ll do the con, Disney Springs for dinner, and Sunday we’ll head home.

4. Future Cons & Plans
Soooo I really don’t know if I’m going to be able to go to MidSouthCon. Which bums me out hard. It’s just going to depend on how the embroidery is looking closer to that weekend.
I thought about just wearing something comfy like Merida or Donna Fires of Pompeii, taking my embroidery with me and just camping in the lobby with it. LOL.

DragonCon… so it looks like it may just be me and Ash and Cath going this year (Cath of course because she works for Dcon). We’re looking at doing Friday-Sunday – coming in Friday Morning, leaving Sunday evening. We really want to do a Billie Piper photo-op and she’s only there Sunday.
I have this Lucy (I Love Lucy) costume I’ve been wanting to do for AGES but it’s really only a dragoncon costume. It wouldn’t work at another con, I don’t think. So if this plays out, I’ll do it for Dcon. Also had another really stupid idea, I dunno about that one, it’s so ridiculous… and Ash and I were talking about doing Dr Crusher and Wesley. Haha.
And I’ve been wanting to do either a Jyn Erso or Mon Mothma so we’ll see. I really can’t do anything til Bespin is done.

5. Etc
Forgot to post this in my Visioncon post — look at this adorable little Doctor Doggie Chase got for me at Sea Monkey Cove Trading Co:

Isn’t he cute? Also got a fairy door, need to figure out where to put it.
