Wednesday night and last night I worked on the new shrug. Got it finished up last night:
Besides being a bit smaller, I also opted to line it in the same black taffeta I used for the bodice lining, instead of two layers of the velveteen. That helped cut down on the bulk a bit. I also interfaced the collar this time.
I ran to Hobby Lobby yesterday afternoon and picked up some white fur trim and tossed the homemade stuff I was using — I’d cut strips of leftover Romana fur for the first two. It was just too thick. This time around, instead of building in between the layers of the shrug, I just sewed it in place once the collar was finished. Not quite as neat looking but again, it helped reduce the bulking at the seams.
Tomorrow I’m doing a 501st event so I’ll be in costume makeup – I think I’m going to try everything on together at that point and see how it is all looking. Hopefully everything looks ok and I can call it done?
