Dragoncon progress

I finally got started on a Dragoncon project!!

Yes, the white elf dress I’m working on is also for Dragoncon – but I’m hoping to debut it at Memphis Comics Expo next month. So technically, it’s not a Dragoncon costume.

I’m doing a Janet Snakehole/April Ludgate costume for fun. Easy comfy nighttime costume, and mostly made of stuff I already had on hand.
I DID buy a hatform, sequin fabric and netting for the hat. Since I’ve hit a dead-end with the white elf dress for the moment (waiting on some supplies to come in), I started on that. About an hour later…

I want to get a headband to sew it to, so I don’t have to worry about pinning it on so much.

Then, time to start the rest. The black fabric is “leftover” from Donna Unicorn & the Wasp (is it really “leftover” if you haven’t finished the project? LOL.), lined with some purple satin I had on hand. Here it is as of last night:

I need to press the hem, get the shoulders sewn together and a zipper put in the back (the real one appears to have a button closure back – but that’s too much work for a fun costume, sorry :P). Then get the sleeves in, and do the collar. I’m thinking I could have it finished this weekend.

I probably will have to spend a little more money to get a wig, though. None of mine are working right. I used my Romana wig for the pic above and it really needs bangs. I figure I can get something cheap-ish on ebay.

I have two more things I definitely want to do for Dragoncon – considering a third. We’ll see how it goes……..
