MidSouthCon 2015

This weekend was MidSouthCon of course!

(Warning: there is puke in the upcoming story.)

It ended up being kind of a strange weekend. Our plans were to take Kevin and let him enjoy the convention while I was doing my panels and whatnot. We picked him up Thursday and he spent the night, then Friday I ran home at lunch to bring him back up to work with me (had a few things on my desk I wanted him to help with) and when I got him up, he said he had a headache. I gave him some ibuprofen.

I fixed us some lunch (leftover chicken alfredo) and we ate that, and headed back in to my office. In the car he was coughing and groaning a bit, so I asked what was wrong, he said he felt weird. I leaned over and felt his forehead and he felt a little warm to me, but I wasn’t sure if that was just my cold hands or not. We got to my office and Susan didn’t think he felt hot, and told him to go lay down on the couch in the entryway and sleep for a bit, let the ibuprofen I gave him kick in.

A few minutes later he started shaking uncontrollably. It was decided he needed to go home, he was obviously not feeling well enough for a convention. (He asked me at one point, “Am I going to die from this?”) On his way out, in the hallway, it hit him. He barely made it into the bathroom before puking everywhere. We all stood in the doorway as he apologized from the stall. Once he got it out of his system he said, “Well that was unpleasant.” Then we all had to clean it up! It took nearly an hour.

He felt better after that but still obviously wasn’t going to a con anytime soon. (He said he might vomit on people if he went. I told him we could dress him up like the girl from the Exorcist and that way, if he puked, it would go with the costume. He thought that was funny.) I ran over to drop his suitcase off saturday evening and he was still feeling a little nauseated, and when I saw him last night, he was much better but didn’t have much of an appetite. Poor thing.

Anyway, I wore Meg friday night, and Romana and Belle Saturday. I was going to wear Anne Boleyn, but decided Belle would be more fun. I did my three panels, did some shopping, had a nice time, though it would have been more fun with Kevin.

This weekend was also Chase’s birthday so Sunday was that! We had a cookout and a nice time.

So here’s some pictures….
Meg Friday night. We only came up for my panel that evening – since the hotel was on Chase’s way home, he grabbed my badge for me after work, brought him dinner, we ate, and then ran back up to the hotel for the panel.

It’s funny how the all-encompassing flash on my little camera makes this dress look so flat.

Saturday I had to get up super early which is why I picked Romana for that morning, it’s super easy to get into and comfy.

Then we went and picked up lunch, ran home, ate, and I changed into Belle for the afternoon. On our way out, a woman saw me in my driveway and pulled over to take a picture for me. Haha. I was super happy to get pics with this lovely Tiana, Nikkie:

Then we walked around a bit more, looked in the dealer’s room a bit, but I was getting a blister on my foot from my Belle shoes (I forgot they turned from perfectly-comfy to the devil at Momocon last year) so we headed on home.

So that was my weekend. I told Kevin next con he’d definitely come to – which I think will be Memphis Comics Expo in June. Hopefully he will enjoy that just as much.
