It’s kinda hard to talk updates when I’m not saying what it is yet. but I’ll try.
I got the backs put together last night (outside and lining), and pinned to the front sections. After that I had to stop, since I need my front design cut out (Chase is doing that for me) so I can sew it on before I put the whole suit together.
I experimented with making gloves in a different way. I’ve used the Vogue evening glove pattern for several years and, not only do I hate it, I’m missing pieces. So I just cut out a hand shaped glove and sewed it up to see how it looked without the little interior finger pieces. It wrinkled a little bit around the middle and ring finger bases but not terrible, and honestly that 10 minute experiment looked way better than any glove I’ve made in the past few years (and didn’t take several hours of frustration). So I think that’s the way I’m going to go for these. It’s a for fun costume so I don’t really care if they’re not perfect. I think I MIGHT switch it to do a set-in thumb, and I need to make the fingers a little wider (the fingers on my experiment last night were way too tight!). We’ll see what happens.
Going to see Guardians of the Galaxy tonight, but I’m hoping I can squeeze in an hour or so of work tonight afterwards. Tomorrow I’ve got a quick little troop in the morning as Wonder Woman, and a family get together in the afternoon, so I’m also going to try to work around that. I’m hoping I can take my front design/applique with me to the bbq and sew it on while I’m there, so it’s all ready to be put back together when I get home. Sunday = Johanna.
