Now that C2E2 is over I can start planning Dragoncon stuff.
I’m only planning on making 4 new costumes for myself; maybe only 3. I’ve got a work schedule worked out, and if I finish the 3 first ones by August, then I’ll go ahead and tackle the 4th (the 4th will be easy to make; it’s just budgeting factors.)
Obviously one of those 4 is Romana I. Two others are group projects, and the 4th (the maybe one) is a superhero costume.
So far everything is much less work intensive than last year, so that’s good!
I am dropping Mary/Edwardian dress, at least for now. She may come back next year, since I already did all the planning and fabric scouting. It was just going to blow my budget for the year, and I got super excited about another project and kinda lost interest in Mary.
I’ve got a few things in mind for bringing with me this year, besides the 4 new ones:
Fionna – this is going to be my go-to downtime costume!
Dr Forrester – I need to find a different shirt to wear with it (not wearing a black turtleneck sweater in atlanta), this will be another downtime costume, nothing serious.
Batgirl – with an updated belt and new gauntlets, and hopefully fix the chin strap fit issue with the mask.
Lady Blackhawk – I’ve been itching to wear it again. I need to fix the belt buckle that wouldn’t stay on, and I may replace all the black buttons with gold ones.
Donna – just because my hair is finally the right length
Emma Frost – I’d like to wear it a little longer this year. I need to figure out a better way to fasten the cape.
Marie Antoinette OR Belle – I can’t decide between the two; I can only bring one because they both take up a lot of room. Belle I wanted to fix a few issues, and finally finish my wig, so it would be nice to bring it back with the updates. Marie Antoinette I just really want to wear again, and I’ve been wanting to get a hairpiece so I can use my own hair with it, because I love how the colour of my hair looks with the blue of the dress. So I’ll just have to wait and see…
Anyway, I’ve also got 2 costumes to help Chase with, and helping friends out, too. Time to dig in.
