Costume Updates: Fionna 99% done

The only other time I’ve even posted about Fionna was last weekend when I nearly had the backpack done; I haven’t even posted my pics of it. I wasn’t expecting to have it done for a couple more weeks (it’s for C2E2), but I made a big push yesterday and knocked almost everything out.
All that’s left is a velcro closure for the hat and finishing the edges of the backpack straps.

Since I haven’t posted much of anything I’ll start with the older pics I hadn’t ever posted. The backpack I made out of leftover fabric (the light green material is leftover from Ashley’s Buttercup costume from 2003!). It was a pain in the BUTT. I ended up not quite getting my edges matched up but by that point I was like F it, it’s functional, I’m leaving it. It’s got a zip at the top so I can actually use it at the con.

So anyway here’s the front section finished and about to be ironed

I had enough leftover material in my stash that I could make my Fionna backpack without buying anything but a zipper! Here's the start of it...Kelldar.com | My Facebook Page | Tumblr | Instagram

Here it is finished! Also I discovered I can add stickers and effects in flickr now so yeah.

My finished backpack!I really wanted a very functional backpack, and for ease I decided to make the opening along the top edge, instead of the center front. The shape is reinforced with foam,Kelldar.com | My Facebook Page | Tumblr | Instagram

Friday night I cut out the skirt pieces and decided that was enough work for the night. Then yesterday I decided to make my hat. I used the Finn hat that came with one of the dvds as a reference. It went a lot faster than I expected, so after it was finished I made my shirt, and that went fast so after that I finished my skirt.

Pretty much finished Fionna. Ignore my laundry behind me.The shirt is some blue knit I bought locally, and I used one of my t-shirts as a pattern for it. The skirt is more knit, and it's just a tube of fabric. The hat I made out of some white knit I had on hand, using the commercially available Finn hat as a pattern. I had originally bought a shirt I was going to mod, but I wasn’t crazy about the colour and the neckline wasn’t really right, so I ended up buying fabric and making it.
The shoes I bought online and the socks I bought on amazon. The stripes are a little big but whatever.

So anyway yeah all I need is to put velcro on the hat, a button on the backpack and finish the edges of the backpack straps.
