I tried to sew with my feet and it didn’t work out so well

(recap: July 2nd I caught the side of my foot on a broken, bent sewing needle stuck in my carpet in my sewing room. 7/6 went to the dr and was put on antibiotics and got a tetanus shot.)
So my foot got a ton better last week. I had finished the antibiotics Wednesday, and by Friday I was walking normal, I even rode my bike that night.
Saturday morning I got up and it was hurting pretty bad again. I limped around that morning and as I stretched it and walked on it, it got better. Sunday, same thing – hurt and sore in the morning, better by the evening. I assumed I’d overdone it friday, and the muscle was just tightening up overnight.
Sunday night I ran my hand over the spot and it just weird, and I freaked out (again) that the other half of the needle was still in there. Chase told me we just needed to go back to the doctor, whatever it was, just to make sure everything was ok before it got too late to deal with it before dragoncon. we thought maybe I just needed more antibiotics.

Yesterday went back to my regular doctor, and here’s the result:

The x-ray of my foot with half a broken sewing needle stuck in it. Got it removed last week. This is in my Marie Antoinette set because it was what I was working on when this happened, and what I was beading while recovering LOLKelldar.com | My Facebook Page | Tumblr | Instagram

The other half of the needle has been in my foot the whole time!! Augh!
After that I was totally freaked out. My dr sent me to an orthopedic surgeon same day. So after lunch we went over to meet him, and he said he didn’t have the right tools to remove it in the office. They wanted to use some sort of magnifying thing (can’t remember what he called it), it would allow them to make a very small incision in the exact place and pull the needle out without a lot of mess.

So bright and early this morning (5:30, ugh) I went in to the surgery center, had to do the whole 9 yards, the gown, the IV and everything. The staff was REALLY nice and made me feel much better about being there. They rolled me back, my doc confirmed the leg he was working on, and that’s all I remember until I woke up as they rolled me to recovery. (they said I woke up really fast, they expected me to be asleep for another 15-20 minutes!)
After they finished monitoring me, I was done. I’ve got a foot wrapped up in a ton of bandages, pain meds, anti-nausea meds and more antibiotics. I have to stay off it for the next 3 days while it heals, and can’t unwrap it. My doc will unwrap it friday morning at my followup. I got a boot if I do need to hobble around!

So all in all, a lot of hullaboo for a little piece of a needle in my foot. I’m out of it right now, still a little loopy, and tired, and dizzy. Been handsewing this morning and will nap this afternoon. This gives me time to get all my beading done at least 🙂
