charles nelson reilly, can you hear me?
I don’t have a lot of sewing progress to show you this week, because it was a solid week of embroidering. I let the skirt hang for a day and a half before digging in again, and I got another panel and a 1/3 of the next one done.

The very back panel didn’t stretch while hanging in that day in a half – but some of the other panels did, which was a little frustrating because I let the skirt hang for a WHILE before I got started on this because I really didn’t want to level it LOL I thought it had gotten all of the stretching out but I guess not. Because of that, on the next 2 panels I’ve worked on, I did not do the embroidery all the way to the bottom in case I have to shorten it. I can always go back and add more embroidery but I don’t want to be cutting into any if I have to trim excess off.
I did do one flower on one of the sleeves as a test patch while letting the skirt hang. Should have done it on the bodice but I wasn’t expecting it to turn out as rough as it did LOL. I’m going to HAVE to stabilize the flowers. I drew up a flower guide and I’m going to print it on my stick on stabilizer I like to use and do a test of that on some scraps. Not right now though I’m in a chain stitch groove.
I said last week (or the week before?) I was gonna rewatch some recent RPDR episodes while embroidering. Started at season 11 and realized I JUST watched that one. And 12, and 13, and 14 LOL. So I started watching season 14, then went back and to the All Stars All Winners season because I love that one and…

It’s Emile, guest-starring on RPDR!
Ok so yall know from last week I was working on redrawing some of my Padme pieces in procreate — well I got side tracked and my brain went “ping” on a new project. A project I really don’t have time to get sucked into right now with the embroidery, but here we are.

Started doing some Leias in the style of the redrawn Padmes.

And since they’re pretty simple, mostly just flat colors, they don’t take that long to do.

I did start a Leia project back in 2018 directly after I finished the Padme project, I got like 6 of them done but didn’t love them so I stopped. I like these much better, but I still find Carrie’s face harder to capture than Natalie’s.

I am heavily leaning into my own costumes as references – which helps things go faster than drawing conceptual Padme pieces LOL

The background of these was just a basic thing I did for the Star Trek pieces I was doing a couple of years ago, I just dropped it in, changed it in Hue/Saturation and did a white “sticker” outline around the actual figure.

So that’s the real meat of this post since I didn’t have much sewing to share today. I do have more updated Padmes (and also started doing a similar background on them) but I’ll save them for later.
Woke up at 1 am this morning with my stomach hurting. Kept me up half the night. This morning still feeling pukey. Apparently we’re out of emetrol so I’m just suffering through it. Ugh.

And in other weird news, Saturday night (technically Sunday morning), our neighbors dogs were outside barking like crazy. (they are LOUD barkers.) Somehow I slept through it, but Chase was sleeping in the recliner in the living room because of his shoulder, and it woke him up and kept him up. I woke up at 3 and went to the bathroom and heard them and knew I wouldn’t get back to sleep because of it. Just then Chase came in and told me it’d been going on for hours and he hadn’t been able to sleep. Since it was unusual, he’d texted the neighbor even though it was in the middle of the night. The neighbor said they weren’t home… they were at a softball game?? At 3am?? Neighbor said nobody was home but the back door was open and so Chase went over and there and let the dogs in the house. Soooo odd.
Honestly I just add stories like this to my blog because I know I will forget it after a few weeks, but one day in the future when I re-read my blog, I’ll come across this and go OMG! I forgot about that, that was crazy! LOL
Anyway, back to the embroidery grind…
