I was off Friday, did I get much done? Not really, but I have accomplished a bit.
I was hampered by sinus mess that came on with a sinus headache, which my migraine meds don’t work on — until it BECOMES a migraine a day later and then I can start taking imitrex LOL I do not know why it works that way. But my medicine I take to keep migraines at bay now had no power against the sinus headache, and then the following migraine. So I’ve had the worst migraine I’ve had for quite a while thanks to that, it took a couple of days to get it under control and of course I was dealing with that on my day off.
I guess I’d rather be laying on the floor of my sewing room with a migraine than having to work with a migraine.

Friday morning I got my crinkled fabric dyed for the bodice. Let it dry in the sun – didn’t take long.

To be clear this was yellow to start with, but a tad bit paler than I would’ve liked. I was just getting it a little more saturated.
The orange boys checked in
Earlier in the week I did get the boning channels sewn in, and the boning installed. I also went ahead and put the grommets in so I could try it on – the outer crinkle silk layer will have a different closure over the lace-up back. It fit ok. Trying to decide now if I want to sew bias tape on the raw edges before the silk layer gets attached or nah.
I did also get the embroidery sketched up and printed – took me printing it 3 times to get the sizing right. Pinned it all onto the form to see how it was looking, size-wise, on a body.
My next round of silk chiffon arrived Saturday, so that means I gotta get the blouse figured out. I started with the sleeve pattern from that Simplicity Padme-look-a-like pattern but it was not great. I changed the shape and did a mockup out of scrap satin but it’s hard to tell draping on something like that when the final thing is going to be chiffon, so I dug around and found a sheer curtain panel in my fabric stash and did another mockup from that.
Hmm. Decided I need to mockup the blouse too so I can put all together and try the mockup on me. So I got patterns for that made yesterday, will get them cut out of the scrap curtain tonight and assembled.
I need to get my lining fabric for the skirt and blouse bought because I want to cut the blouse pieces all together.
Saturday we ran a bunch of errands, had breakfast, went to Kevin’s and got him packed for this weekend. Last week I tore the house apart trying to find his Luke shoes. Basically there are 6 places a pair of his costume shoes would be — either under his bed in his room here (not there), in the closet in his room here where there are 2 costume bins of Kevin and Chase costume parts (not there), under the bed in the guest room where there’s some costume overflow (not there), in the closet in the guest room where I keep some shoes in a shoes hanger (not there), in the attic where there are 2 bins of Kevin or misc costume parts mixed in with Christmas bins (not there), or in my costume closet in the shoe container (not there). I went through everything 3 times. Thought I was going crazy. Finally texted his mom and asked if they were there. She wasn’t home but said she’d check. Thankfully the next day she texted she found them! How his costume shoes ended up at his house I dunno, but I’m glad they’re here.
I need to compare them to his leg wraps and see if I need to paint them – something I’ve needed to do since we got them for him in 2022. They were for his Dapper Day outfit, and I’ve always planned to make them be his new shoes. But I’m kinda thinking I just need to make new boots for him all together, find something with the right shape and make the uppers with the correct stitching. On the docket for next year, this year I’m going to give him the option of those shoes or his old suede shoes that don’t fit well.
Saturday night I washed my hair and then decided to try out my grandma’s old hair dryer bonnet. I just rolled all my hair up in one big roller and then sat with the dryer on for 10 minutes.
Hair looked FABULOUS for the rest of the night but was gone by the time I got up the next morning LOL So I need to try this again, maybe with my hair a little damper and leave it on longer for sure, it had recommended 15-20 minutes but I got bored.
Yesterday I made a guide for the cut outs on the Padme bodice. Decided to use the pen attachment to draw it out on stickyback stabilizer, that way I’d have them lined up correctly and they’d be stabilized once cut. Chase and I got the silhouette set up (it’s been a while) and got them drawn out… but once I held it up to the bodice I realized they were too small. So I’ve got to redo it today. Once I get those damn cut outs done (I am not looking forward to this), I can start the embroidery, which is what I’ve been trying to GET TO for weeks now. I just want a couch project! LOL
Things I still need to buy for this:

3. ribbon for headband
4. curtain fabric for cape
5. more embroidery floss
6. bun nets
7. shoes
8. maybe a wig? gonna see if maybe my old amazon one works
I’m really hoping that by end of May I have a lot of this done, outside of embroidery. I have 2 more projects to do this summer – one should be quick and easy, the other is a little more complicated.
Anyway, last night we went out for mom’s bday!
And I have everybody’s leftovers to eat for lunch today LOL

I am so ready for a 5 day weekend. I need to get packed – I’ve got most everything set in the dining room, just need to put it all in bins… I’m off Thursday, but Chase is only off half day, so I’ll have that morning to finish up packing.
Also I named this post “rockafeller skank” because I got a tiktok comment this morning that cracked me up. Posted my old Wonder Woman dressing video from a few years ago – I have no content to post right now so I’m just reposting all my old dressing videos from 2020-2023. And since they’re all old reposts I’m just letting them fly with whatever song tiktok automatically adds to it, unless it’s egregiously bad LOL Posted Wonder Woman yesterday and the song tiktok stuck on was a mash up of Rockafeller Skank and Satisfaction by the Rolling Stones. I had a comment left on this morning that was like, “I like the costume, I like the transitions, but I question your song choice, you’re dressed as the most iconic comic book character and you picked FUNK SOUL BROTHER?” LOL FAIR! I told em there’s older versions of the video up with more appropriate songs, the first one has the WW theme! My Jedi Training Leia video has a remix of Britney Spears’ Circus, which also doesn’t really make sense… and I have more of them saved in my drafts with weird choices too. I kinda enjoy seeing what song tiktok picks!
