Witch Student – Magical Book Series (Later-style Robes)
As of 2025 I no longer support this author and have no desire to be associated with this book/movie series anymore. I am leaving my pages about my costumes from this series up just for my own personal history, but I will no longer be posting about or amplifying this series/author in any way.
Made for: Dragoncon 2004
Background: My first magical student costume was showing its age and needed updating, so I decided to go ahead and put together a new set of robes based on the later appearances.

Patterns Used:
Simplicity 5840 (probably)
Cloak:
The cloak is my old magical student cloak from 2001, with a new patch, added hood, added clasp, and added the burgundy facing to the front panels. I also shortened it a bit. I’ve made a ton of robes for friends since this one and I got a lot better at it over the years! I should have made myself a newer one at some point, but never did, and now I never will.
Sweater/Tie:
My sweater I bought from Hobbie’s House of Wizard Wear, and my tie I got from Wizard Ties. Unfortunately my sweater eventually developed holes, so I officially retired this costume out of rotation several years ago.
Accessories:
The skirt I bought at a school uniform site, and shortened it a tiny bit, and dyed it a hair darker). The tights, white shirt, and shoes I already had. My Mary Jane shoes broke at Dragoncon, so later I wore another pair of shoes I already had. My wand I bought somewhere online for my original 2001 student costume.
History:
For years, this was my go-to Halloween costume when I need something comfortable but recognizable. I got a LOT of use out of the costume. It’s retired now, partially because the sweater is developing holes like I said above, but also because I do not support the author and don’t wish to cosplay anything from this series any longer.

Please note that none of these costumes are for sale! This is my personal portfolio.
