don’t take skyrizi if you’re allergic to skyrizi

Here I am, back back back again with hardly any dragoncon progress photos to show yall. Is this the lowest output of summer progress photos I’ve had since pre-iphone days? Possibly.

I worked on flowers all week. I’m not done, unfortunately. It takes me about 20 minutes to do each one, so I thought, there’s not that many I can finish them by Friday. I’m probably at 60% done as of today, so hopefully will be done in a couple of days.

I did get into a good groove with them. I started out using some stabilizer in the center of each flower and eventually discovered it was not necessary, only made things harder. I LOVE how I’m basically repeating all the same stabilizer lessons I learned embroidery on Bespin Leia 9 years ago LOL. Like literally exact same fabric, lots of embroidery, lots of stabilizer testing and eventually realizing I didn’t need any of it, just needed to watch my tension.

I decided to take a break from the flowers over the weekend so I could focus on Morticia, because I haven’t done ANYTHING on that and I felt like if I could get a chunk done this weekend, I’d feel better. So my plan was do my duct tape dummy Friday night, spend Sat afternoon/night and all day Sunday working on it. (Duct tape dummy is for the bodice I’ll be wearing under the dress for shaping. I wanted to do this to have an updated overbust corset to wear other under stuff that fits better than all my old stuff.)

What did I get done?

Not a lot.

I did do the duct tape dummy Friday night. Went to dinner with my parents and came home and knocked it out. I’d been avoiding it for weeks so I was at least glad to have it done. Saturday afternoon I got my seam lines drawn on, cut it up, turned it into a pattern, adjusted it, did a mock-up, adjusted it again. That’s as far as I got Saturday, Saturday night I went back to doing flowers.

Sunday I had plans to work all day. I did get one layer of the actual bodice cut out, tried it on, decided not to use that layer (that fabric was just too thick and stiff). Cut one layer of the Star Wars cotton you see above and one of taffeta.

I did get those 2 layers assembled, pressed, and partially sewn together ready for boning — I ran out of black thread!! I had to order more. It won’t be here til tomorrow so I’m stuck waiting on that to arrive to keep working on this.

I may have been able to get more done yesterday if I hadn’t been completely railroaded by medicine! I’ve been super anxious over my upcoming dentist appointment this thursday, so Chase gave me one of his anxiety meds. It totally knocked me on my ass, and not in like a “I fell asleep for 3 hours” kind of way, but in a dizzy, pukey, headachey, sweaty kind of way. I could barely walk for a while. Had to just stop working and lay on the couch with an ice pack on my head to cool me off. Chase went and got lunch and I felt a little better after eating. Tried to nap but the world was spinning. I do think I drifted off for a while. Eventually the dizziness and pukey-ness stopped and I was just left with a headache, so I took a tylenol and got back to work. Won’t be taking that again!

For several days last week I kept seeing this out of the corner of my eye in the living room and thinking it was Luna sitting there. Nope, it’s a wig! LOL

Saturday morning we went out to my parents’ house so Chase could show them how to use the fancy new coffee machine they got. Mom found a few things she sent me home with, including this home-made pin cushion – made by my GREAT GREAT grandmother.

Wow! Also appreciate getting a new collection of needles LOL

My sweet neighbor boy Jet came over to say hi a few times.

Last night he was in the backyard and Luna was going nuts at the window.

Anyway, I have 4 Leias for today.

This dress from the manga. Since it was in black and white I decided to do it in colors similar to Bail’s Liberty Dies outfit. I do wish I’d drawn the “lace” in a darker color, it gets lost a bit. But I put it on the same layer as the line art so it was a pain to deal with again.

I told myself I wasn’t going to include my own costume variations like medieval and dapper, but oh well. I wanted to do one that would be really easy and this was just the ticket.

Unused light side Jedi concept from the cancelled battlefront game. Got to decide which of the concepts for the dark side look I want to do next.

Another one from the recent comics. I really like how this one turned out!

And finally, most exciting… my stickers arrived!!!

AHHH it’s so cool to see my art in sticker form!
I’ve got 10 of each of these designs, plus I have 50 more of some more generic stickers I’m not posting yet. I’ll be trading these for swag at dcon and whatever is leftover I’ll post up for grabs afterwards. And heck if I run out I’ll prob be ordering more for celebration.

And finally… Chase and I just randomly booked a disney trip last week. Oops. He was like, “I want to go to disney between dragoncon and the end of the year” and said look at prices, so I did, and we just ended up booking caribbean beach for one weekend. We haven’t stayed there since 2013, so it’ll be fun to go back and see what’s changed, and also to be on the skyliner.

Whoohoo! So glad I have that to look forward to in the midst of all this dental stuff. My hope for the appointment this week is they say we can wait til after dragoncon to do anything more. Fingers crossed.
