it’s the 2024 costume wrap-up post

Finally! Ok as usual let's start with what I SAID I wanted to make in 2024 at the end of 2023, and see how I did: 1. Honeymoon Leia - YES! This was kind of a given considering it was mostly done when I made this list in December 2023. 2. Star Wars Cruise Dress - YES! Turned out so cute! 3. Baylan and Shin - YES! Though I still need to drag Chase in front ...

White Backdrop To-Do (or To-Don’t)

Every once in a while I like to do a check-in of sorts on where I am with getting all of my costumes shot on the white backdrop. Here's a roundup of what I still have NOT gotten done, why, and what I need to do to be able to shoot it. This is really for my own benefit but you can read along too if you're really curious. Things ...

White Backdrop Shoot To-Do

I'm posting this here so I can refer back to it because if I save this on my computer I'll never look at it again. I made a list of all the costumes that I still have that haven't been shot on the white backdrop. I separated them into groups: Costumes that can be shot right now: Raddus Bridge Leia Mothman Bespin Leia Disneybound Carrie Fisher Comfy Ariel Costumes that ...

friiiiiiiday update

So first a Chase update. LIke I said in my last post, he ended up having to call an ambulance and go to the ER. My parents were thankfully able to sit with him until I got off work. They did another MRI and gave him a ton of pain meds and some muscle relaxers and by the time he got discharged that night felt like nearly normal. Very little ...

a trip and a lot of beading

Hi everybody! So yeah, last week was bad. My heart hurts and doubly so for my parents. And I really don't have a lot of sewing stuff to show you guys today. Because it's just been a week of non-stop beading. Which gets repetitious to keep taking pictures of. But I do have a few things to talk about. Thursday, it was hair appt day! Before After I feel like ...

Still got a decent amount of work done on the hat. Can't show any photos tho. Sorrrrrrrry. I bought some big pearls for this project and can't find them ANYWHERE. Chase is going to help me look ...

in which I think about dragoncon

Didn't get a whole lot done last night. Well maybe kinda. Finished painting my shoes, got the lowest ruffle sewn on. Got the sequins sewn onto the straps and got the first line of sequins sewn across the top of the bodice. Had to handsew those so it took a little longer - I have to do one more line of them tonight. Also finish hand-sewing the top ruffle, and ...

a to-do list

I have a to-do list even though we're on the wrong side of the convention, haha. But I have a few things I need to get done over this weekend -- I'm doing an event in Amidala next weekend, so she needs some attention. And while I have it on we are going to do a white backdrop photoshoot, and also do Bespin Leia at the same time (and probably ...

ugh monday

We had a nice weekend, spent Friday evening-Sunday morning at my grandparents. I also FINALLY got Snapchat to work with an animal face: A few weeks ago Mema was ironing and ran outside for something or another... the cat knocked the iron over onto the floor and caused a lovely burn mark. They are having to get new tile put in but I'm glad I captured Catty Bob's attempt at ...
