Halloween and Belle updates

I'm hoping to go pick up fabric for my new blue Belle dress this weekend. I'd like to go ahead and get started on it, despite how burnt-out I was feeling right after Dragoncon. With no internet on my laptop, I keep looking for other things to do -- and with Chase working on new helmet sculpts in the work room I'd just like to have something to leisurely sew ...

The sewing machine is back..

The sewing machine is back, because my mum forgot to drop it off at the store. D'oh. Tomorrow I'm going to get the main pieces cut out for the dress of the Padme water gown. I really need to do some experimenting with the velvet for outer cape. I may put the nightgown away again for a while, because I'd rather have the water gown finished for Adcon than the ...

Padme Nightgown & Ewok Leia progress!

I ran out of thread for the Ewok dress Tuesday night, so I pulled out the Padme steel blue nightgown again. I finally hemmed the other wing (which was starting to fray pretty badly after just laying around in a box since October), and got them pinned on to the back of the dress.... only to decide I didn't like how they looked hemmed like that. So last night I ...

Costume & Convention Plans

Weekend after next is St Patrick's Day; we're planning on going to Atlanta again for their big parade, with the 501st/RL. I'm - hopefully - wearing Queen Amidala, the parade dress. After the mixup last year I'm a little skittish about things falling through again. On top of that, a bunch of our local members have decided not to go. We're still going; I'm just not all that excited ...

New Vibro-Ax! Leia Photoshoot, and Christmas Parade Pics!

First off, my new toy came today! oh heck yes... New Leia pics we took a while back-- I want to do the Rebel Legion trading cards this time around, so I needed better pics of some of my costumes. Next up - padme lake dress -- stormtrooper -- imperial officer -- maybe the parade dress Although, speaking of that, when I was cleaning and organizing my costume closet the ...

Various Costume updates!

Well I haven't gotten much done lately - been working on the website, or some art stuff. I've got about four projects I'm working on currently-- Ceremonial Leia v.2 - Since the pattern I bought back in August has apparently disappeared into the black hole that is my sewing room, I bought another one and got it cut out, and night before last did the darts, and last night put ...

Hoth Leia, Padme Nightgown and Dorothy updates

This weekend is Horrorfest; I'm trying to get Hoth Leia finished for it. I worked a little bit last night, but the sewing machine was being horrid to me so I quit (I swear, the needle came unthreaded three times in the space of, like, 5 minutes. The last time I just quit. I had been up since 5:45 yesterday, so I wasn't in the best mood to begin with.) Tonight I ...

Padme Nightgown and Hoth Leia progress

Making a quick post of my progress from work, because I realised I won't be home to do this until at least tomorrow night! (Going to my grandmother's tonight :) The vest as it was yesterday evening: Just pinned together, and inside out. The vest as it is right now: Still need to turn the front, the sleeves, make the pocket for the rank badge, and make the collar. (this pic ...

Padme Nightgown, Dorothy, etc

I worked for a while tonight, and got some good stuff done! Padme's Nightgown - Got the basic thing put together. I really don't like this McCall's pattern - it's strange. I used it for the basic pieces, made it larger to take out the fitted aspect of the bodice, and completely eliminated the bonig. The way they had the straps being made was tedious and didn't work well with ...
