2017 Year in Review

It's that time of the year again... time to see what I accomplished this year, what I didn't get to, and what I did instead of doing the things I said I was going to do. So last year I said my goals for 2017 were: 1. Georgian Belle – as I said above, finish it up for Visioncon. Did I?! Not really. I redid the wig, twice - once for Visioncon, and ...

Every weekend should be a 4 day weekend

What a nice weekend. We barely did anything. Thanksgiving day we got up and headed to family lunch. I curled my hair overnight and it looked cute for a couple of hours. It was pretty much deflated by the time we got home. After we got home and I had my own MST3K Turkey Day -- Hercules Unchained, The Brain That Wouldn't Die, Jack Frost, part of Final Sacrifice. ...

2014 Year in Review – 2015 Plans

It's that time of year!! Time to look back at what I accomplished and what I... didn't accomplish. So last year, I said I was going to make... 1. Willow – Buffy the Vampire Slayer Nope. Even though this would have been easy I just never got to it. 2. Johanna’s Interview Dress – Catching Fire I DID THIS ONE! OMG. 3. She-Ra No :( 4. Donna Noble – Partners in Crime Well, I kinda did this. ...

Round-up

A lot of thoughts, discussions, and purchases this weekend. Here's a breakdown of everything I have going on. 1. Meg - still sewing pleats. Good grief. I took my dress, my pins, needle & thread, scissors and my ironing board and dressform to my grandma's this weekend. I got out of my car and warned her, "You're going to think I'm crazy when you see all that I've brought," and she ...

Overly Critical Indy

"I feel like the colour story of your sequins could be stronger. Try more turquoise as opposed to be royal blue." I couldn't really get a decent photo of my in-progress Elsa bodice - in the yellow light of my office it looks grey, in the sun it looks pale, pale blue. Really I don't know why I'm concerned about it since it's all going to get covered up by ...

What a stupid snow day

It's not really a snow day. Last week they said, between Mon-Tues, we could possibly get between 3-6in of snow! Well we got none. Then out of nowhere this morning comes sleet and snow. Not a lot. But enough it delayed me going to work for 2 hours until the roads were clear. I was hanging out on the couch, watching the weather updates/news, and Indy comes snooping out ...

new costume tags

Well I made some new tags on my side-menu there so I figured I ought to make a post to go with them... and updates on what I'm working on. 1. Silver Elf I haven't touched this in a year. Still can't decide what to do with the sleeves. 2. Elsa I've gotten some fabric samples and picked up a few options at fabric stores. I think I've got my top and ...

2013 Year in Review

2013 on its surface looks like I was a lazy bum on the sewing front this year. So, first, let's look back at what I said I wanted to accomplish in 2013: Romana I Yes! I actually did this one! Yay! an Edwardian dress No. I did a ton of planning for it, got fabric samples, and then decided it was going to be too much work the way I was wanting ...
