Darth Vader

Chase’s Darth Vader costume from 2006.

Before we were dating Chase asked if I’d help him with the fabric parts of his Vader costume. I don’t usually take commissions but he was cute so I said sure! Follow that up with multiple weekends hanging out together that turned into dating and then marriage, LOL. Thanks Darth Vader 🙂

We did the quilted suit out of a stretch pleather, backed in cotton and with a batting interior. The back of the shirt is a mesh to try to help with airflow. The 2 capes were both some sort of spandex, with the outer cape having a pleather collar.

He constructed some parts himself, others he bought, some were a kit he had to assemble.

In 2014 he started selling off some of it, and in 2016 we finally had to say goodbye to the suit – the pleather was beginning to tear apart, so we threw it away! I think all that we have left now is the helmet, which stays on display in our living room.
