Padme – Star Wars (Mustafar Outfit)
Made for: San Diego Comic Con 2006
Background: I had some suede leftover from Slave Leia – I thought it would work pretty well for this costume, and decided to make it and wear with Chase’s Darth Vader costume.
Journal Entries: Read more at my Mustafar Padme tag
Patterns Used: Simplicity 5106 (altered)
Tunic: I didn’t aim for high-accuracy with this costume, just something comfortable and easy to wear. I found a maternity top pattern and used that – I made it a bit longer, and a bit wider. I added the collar.
Sleeves: Made these out of the same suede. I embroidered them with the naboo symbol.
Accessories: I bought the pants online, and my boots I got on ebay. My leather straps I cut from a large leather piece and dyed. It velcroes closed in the front. The “pregnancy pad” was a pillow I sewed straps onto, plus I made a tube of spandex to wear over it that helps round the edges a bit more.
Jewelry: The pins I made out of sculpey, and were the most difficult part – I wore the original sculpey ones to Comic Con, but afterwards we cast them, and I wore the new resin ones to Dragoncon.
History: I wore this a handful of times before selling it. It was very comfortable – so much so I kept the boots instead of selling it LOL They live on as my casual comfy winter boots. I do kinda regret selling this. Maybe I’ll remake it one day.
