So originally, I was going to do this costume later in the year. But I happened across a perfect pale blue eyelet cotton on amazon that was super cheap, so I got it. And since I already had it, I figured let’s go ahead and make it for Dcon. Nice cool comfy costume.

Dress:
I used the above pattern from the 80s, which I thought would be a really great starting point. It was not. I had to make so many adjustments and alterations that I’d have had an easier time if I had just started from scratch. I built the upper section first, lining it in cotton. Finished the facings by hand. The first “finished” upper section ended up way too boxy, so I had to take it in quite a bit to fit right. Then the collar wasn’t wide enough, so I had to open it back up and adjust that. Then the arm openings weren’t right so I had to adjust that. Then trying it on I decided the collar STILL wasn’t wide enough so back in to adjust that. Then I looked at references and realized it had a collar so I had to add that LOL. I had some leftover velour from my Padme nightgown shoes from last year so I just used that for the collar. It was a lot of back and forth from “oh this is basically finished” to “actually finished”!

The front edges ended up being too thick to do a buttonhole through (the eyelet cotton was pretty thick, plus the interfacing at the front edge band and the facings), so I just put in snaps and put some cute vintage pearlized buttons on top to give it the look of a button-up dress.

Then for the skirt, I just cut 2 long strips, one front and one back, and gathered them to fit onto the bodice. She has some very high side slits on the actual dress, so I left them that way since I’d be wearing matching briefs underneath.

Wig:
The base wig is from Epic Cosplay Wigs and I ended up sewing my old Zatanna/Wonder Woman wig in for some volume in the beehive area. Also a block of foam. It ended up a little taller than I expected but oh well, better hair too big than hair too small! I bought a little ponytail extension, curled it, and sewed it onto the back.

Etc:
Sandals were my ewok Leia sandals. For the briefs, i bought a white pair of swimsuit bottoms online and dyed them to match the eyelet cotton fabric.

History: Going to make Kevin an eegah costume sometime soon.

A side project Bodice section Now with added skirt She's done omg
